We network/security folks get similar meetings.
I remember once talking about a planned outage where our Internet connection would be down. Our Operations manager asked if it would interrupt our file transfers with our customers.
Getting tired of the same sort of questions from this guy every single time,I asked him if those file transfers used the Internet (knowing full well they did).
He said 'yes' but still didn't get it. Then, after I said yes very slowly, he asked how could we work around it.

I once was party to a conversation with a woman who had come up with an exciting scheme to make money. All we had to do was start a chain letter. If you mean they don't understand business, you're right. However, businessmen also don't understand technical stuff. I always get a giggle when I read a job posting for a non-technical IT project manager. In my opinion, if you don't understand the technology being used at the workplace you shouldn't be an IT project manager.
