I am going to be revamping my "Full Throttle" Mission and building it around this excellent target range script built by Cougar over on the ED side. It actually tracks hits and misses on the various targets with the minor exception to the Huey guns- as they're not currently tracked by the game. This will change- probably with the upcoming patch... and the script Cougar has built will be adjusted to accommodate it when possible.
There are some particulars of the MOD that you should review HERE:
He gets into a bit more detail about how the range is setup and the various zones that exist to track shots from individual aircraft during their run in on target. He explains why it's necessary for the current aircraft to clear the target before the next aircraft flies in on the same track- as an example.
A few of my missions have to be taken out of service here including Wartweasel and Killbox as a result of issues with MIST in MP. Eastbound and Down is still working reasonably well- but I don't want to overplay that. Full Throttle is OKAY- but it's pretty messy and was a REAL hodge-podge of concepts all mashed together. It was my first map, built off of a concept laid out by our very own Einstein... WAY back in the day!
There are new methods of doing the things I tried to do just with triggers before- resulting in well over a hundred individual entries to do something that a MIST script can do in 5 lines of script. (When it works lol.)
You may see missions from the Georgia Peach campaign pop up- they're newer and in relatively good working order. I'm trying to keep it to the missions that are shorter and a little more achievable. Keep in mind, they're not "IN YOUR FACE" all the time...
I'm a bit surprised you went with a 600W power supply... did you do any calculations on load and power draw at all? Got some hungry hippos in that case...
Most people go a bit overboard with the power supply- especially when overclocking is on the docket... So that may be EXACTLY what you need- just seems a bit on the low side.
It's a great quality product... all my PS's are Corsair-

For anyone using steam, it might look like this:

Fridge ---------- Things which do you no good in aviation: 1) Altitude above you; 2) Runway behind you; 3) Fuel in the truck; 4) The airspeed you don't have.

I've been doing some work on "Mission 2" from the Georgia Peach campaign... I have noticed that the artillery only fires for about 15 minutes (one random gun seems to stay silent for the first 15, then fires alone for about 15 minutes), then goes silent for almost an hour... The idea will be to get a general location on it, then mark it and bathe the place in CBUs.
I have added choppers to the mission but they will need to be aware of the SA18 / SA9 threat. The SA9s don't really show up until the second phase. You know the location of the defenses- so as long as the UH1s and Mi8s keep a bit of a distance until the others hunt down the SA9s... it should be okay.
I'd like to try and get the choppers to deliver infantry near the artillery spot and let them hunt the artillery down. I'm not 100% sure this is going to work or not, so I'd like to try. The choppers are (according to the script I put in) pre-loaded with 11-12 troops each... This didn't work before but I'm not sure I was using it properly.
I am going to put in some transport convoys for the hueys / Mags to hunt down- so they have something to do while defenses are pared back a bit in phase 2.
Once the armour has been destroyed in phase 2, the UH1s / Mi8s need to transport in a section of infantry to secure the town- at that point the mission is won.
I'd like to fly it tonight with a good amount of people so if you're thinking of coming in, drop by around 5pm MST and we'll get it started fresh.
Eno, with 1.2.7 coming up soon - I was wondering if you had any plans to test the limits once it does. CBUs and the Netcode were on the list of fixes, something I think we ought to see if it's really made a difference. Maybe have a "stress test" weekend of sorts?
When 1.2.7 comes out that's definitely on the agenda. Usually I use full throttle for that because it has the widest range of equipment available in many places.
Had fun with you guys last night in "Mission 2" (still need a better name for it)- and we got within 1 tank of completing the mission when it crashed on us. Ugh.
Still had a great time, some excellent teamwork and great coordination. I hadn't seen Squeak in there before but he was a welcome addition to the group and between him and Wesley I foresee US defense contractors needing to ramp up their weapons manufacturing quotas!
I'm happy with the mission and though not QUITE as random as I'd like, still presents 9 possible scenarios / locations... the intention is that I will group to random zone with dispersal so groups will move into a random location within a random location... Until then, this is about the best I can do.
The artillery just obliterated Ochamchira ( known as the Ocho in our circles)- I mean, flattened. Problem with that is that it crushes frames / performance... I might need to focus fire on something a little less concentrated- though nobody actually complained about it so maybe it was just me? Squeak and I worked the artillery over for awhile and Fridge came in after to help polish it off. Gordo was in about halfway through and really helped to make our acquisition of targets more efficient. I got comfortable again with the laser search- I hadn't used it in awhile since smoke was my goto-
One trigger misfired on me but didn't affect anything.
On second phase, the enemy armor was spread out around Achigvara (Known as Anchovy)- and these guys worked us over pretty hard with SA9s... We eventually whittled them away and then Wheel and Near showed up to end the mission with a load of troops. They were to come in and unload troops in Anchovy to secure the objective and end the mission.
And we almost made it.
It was great to see us technically complete a mission- as most of you know most of my missions were almost impossible to complete in 1 sitting... Nice thing is that I made that mission in an evening- kept it simple and I think that's worked best.
Hunter Killers has tremendous potential- a few of us went in and gave it a go last night. The technique that seemed to work was look for the SA8 on your RWR and keep it on the beam as you orbit... once the SA8 stops radiating and they're going back to the road, you have a very small area to keep an eye on. It's VERY doable.
Problem is in trying to achieve this I had to get creative... and I've hit a bit of a bump in the road in that regard. Might need to wait until 1.2.7 before this actually works.
Mol also dropped in last night quickly... had a chat with us and eventually came in with an A-10A, did a couple of orbits around Gudauta (Gouda) before landing with controller / TIR issues. He reports that he's got a "working" internet connection but a somewhat restrictive data limit- fact is his ping was actually pretty good so we might see him around a bit.
Anyway I might be in earlier today but have hockey tonight so I'll be gone later on this evening. Hoping for some good gaming on the weekend, however! ARMA3 AND DCS.
I was not on TS last night, but was fortunate enough to take off with you and JimD after mission restarted. It was getting late and I was non-committal about getting onto TS...once I am in TS, I tend to loose track of time, LOL! One of these nights I hope to catch you guys on TS.
It was nice to fly in loose formation with you guys from base! I have some video of the take-off, not sure if worth making into something....but here is my ending last night, LOL!

I thought it was Wheel and someone else with me but I think it ended up being you and JimD... I wasn't sure how formal you guys were going to be on the formation so I kept it slow and tried not to stray too far. I started orbiting in search of artillery but then got distracted when wheel found a convoy, then the SA8 opened up.
Nice landing! Rocketing away from is kinda like walking away from I guess. Love the opposite rudder to correct the drift to the right, as if it might be effective, hehehe.
Hollo Pointe -- Nuke Plant is due for a wrap in a few hours,,, after three days of attacking at dusk. Have to find the last of the Red TORs. Then the four nuke plants can be destroyed.

Pirates on deck, arrg. Shiver me timbers. 'tiz the blak of nite, doncha know.
No problem....I was not on TS, so I wasn't expecting coordination or support. Thanks for leading. You were rubber banding a bit, so i stayed back a bit.
