I'll get on tomorrow evening GMT. Watching 6 Nations rugby all afternoon, so I'll need some action after that. Hell, I might even have a go fixed-wing
I say it as I see it

Eh guys... I had the playground running the day to test for stability and it worked okay- was still up an hour ago... but I'm trying to get in there now through team viewer and it's not working. So I'm going to keep trying to get it changed over but now's the chance to go in and work on some finer skills and JTAC training if you fancy it. On another note- I've been messing around with the photobucket editor... just making some simple changes to hues and so on... Had a photo from the modded highway a couple days ago when I was home- I think Gordo was down there doing his JTAC thing and I was orbiting with about 200 rounds left while Near and another A-10 were put to task. I find the edits add a little more realism and "feel" to the images... I like it. Got any creative photos you'd like to post from missions in Hollo Pointe or the Firehouse? Let's see!

Hey Eno. I was in there earlier today (4:00 EST). Found a couple of those Shilkas north-ish of Poti but I couldn't kill them. Hit them one with a LGB, followed by an AGM-65. The one in the woods wouldn't die! :-)
Tried to get on the Hollo Pointe server tonight and kept getting "Connection Interrupted" after taking an A-10C through Waypoint #1 and about half way to Waypoint #2. No idea what was up and my DCS reported ping was around 150.

I thought I had it mentioned in the briefing that the SAMs / AAA are generally immortal- this is to ensure that the mission can technically go almost forever. The air defences really just exist to make the "target practice" a bit more exciting... obviously once the targets are all used up the mission begins to lose its momentum- especially without tankers.
The air defence areas are supposed to trigger a message when a player flies through saying words to the effect "A player has entered the SAM / AAA zone... these vehicles are immortal" (basically).
I haven't really been in there myself for awhile... but that SHOULD be what happens. Unfortunately I think I had that trigger set up wrong now that you mention it... and only had a "run once" condition entered when instead I should have had it configured with another condition to ensure it didn't just happen the first time someone entered. That may have been the issue.
I also meant to have it in the briefing...
Not sure about the disco's on HP- how many people were in the server?

Firehouse is going to be down for a couple of hours so that I can adjust some missions a little bit. I'll have it back online by about 8am MST.

No problem. I wasn't complaining. I was having fun hunting the buggers down :-)

Nice shot there mace... trying to figure out what mission would have required such an extensive loadout (basically all of them lol).
On another note I spent some time in Crews "Back to School" putting a little bit of Eno Magic in there. Nothing complicated- just shook up the crystal ball a bit... added some things I thought were neat... upped the proverbial ante a bit.
There are a lot of triggers that I didn't want to affect... but I may have. Many of the core components of the mission have stayed the same- which was sort of the idea of me changing the mission "garnish" as opposed to the main meal.
I've added a substantial BLF force that will gradually make it's way down to Beslan and probably be signficant enough to at least even the odds a bit... It'll also give RDR something to do other than pick on A-10s all day. Do the A-10s protect the incoming forces or attack the incoming RDR... we'll see.
Also, I am a bit of a purist in that A-10s with Russian stars on them just never sat right with me... So I've changed the RDR aircraft to SU25Ts. We don't have an equivalent chopper so sadly we'll be keeping the KA50 on BLF side... I've ensured they have PLENTY to do.
I did adjust down the number of ground commanders as well by Crew's recommendation earlier- so each side only has 1.
I followed Crew's lead a bit as well by implementing a very small SAM contingent to protect the south eastern area. Guys were getting a bit ahead of themselves by just heading out there to get sassy while Beslan was getting pounded. I'm a bit concerned with the constant chirp of the RWR and MAY need to set a trigger and a warning instead so that the platform doesn't become a priority target just to shut it up- I would then populate the area with IR missiles instead. I'll make adjustments as I hear feedback. I suppose I could go in and set the trigger on the SAM sites to only activate if aircraft fly past a certain perimeter... that's possible too I suppose with a switched condition trigger- ally in zone I think...
Anyway- just thoughts. I'm heading to bed- but Back to School "The Plans have Changed" is up. Looking forward to some feedback.

A bunch of us flew Fulda Gap last night - guys could not rearm the Mavericks. After wasting three hours this morning I found that the problem is the launcher rack. Rack LAU-88 that allows multiple Mavericks will not reload on a Rearm request. The other rack, LAU-117, will reload OK, but it is limited to one weapon each. So for Fulda Gap, we can all start out with six Mavericks, but when attempting to rearm Blue A-10Cs at Kutaisi or Senaki all that can be loaded are max two Mavericks on LAU-117s. OTOH, the new LAlt-' to bring up the Rearming panel is a nice feature. That also shows the availability of the stores at the airbase. There were plenty of Mavericks of all types available, and it showed zero TGPs in stock as it should. I put a note at the bottom of the mission briefing about this problem. This is DCSW v1.2.2.7570. Also: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1667055#post1667055--- edit --- DCS replied to my DCS Forums post to say this bug has been fixed in their test versions. WC

Yes, this has happened since early DCS A-10C releases.
There are solutions... Need to know the mission name...
The fix is somewhat dependent on where those AI helicopters started from or ended up at.
It may be simply adjusting/resetting the Ramp Start positions for the Clients. Another fix is to add FARPS near the airbases in play - and the AI helicopters tend to land there instead of at the Clients base.

Jeeze! Had a few minutes so I thought I'd pop on to the Hollo Pointe server and test out my connection.
Riders ot Storm! That title is not kidding!
Figured I would lift at Batumi, looking to do my first ILS approach and landing. Wow! Without ILS there is no way you are getting a bird on the field. It's funny because the AI cleared me to land with a visual approach.
It took me two approach attempts. The first altitude warning scared the crap out of me because I still couldn't see anything by cloud and rain. When I did see the buildings and runway lights (it doesn't help that Batumi is right next to the ocean and you don't get as many runway approach lights on runway 13 because of it) I ended up off the to left side. Aborted and went around again. This time I was a little late but closer to the runway. Must have touched down a little less that 1/3 of the way down the runway at 140 knots ... and ended up in the grass about 3 plane lengths off the end of the runway. Not sure I'd call that a good landing but it was a success :-)
Reminds me I need to do some additional ILS approaches some time :-)

Couple of us were on the Firehouse server about 90 minutes ago but it crashed. We moved to one of Dragon's training servers where this idiot dood was obviously not a learner, but destroyed pretty much everything, then started poking fun at one of us. Eeejit. Still, I did get a truck - woot! ...and Omega got a kill, too, and also helped me out loads, cos my memory is tosh. So thanks to him for that. Then the DTP server crashed too Had plenty of buggy issues with the shark and the Hog - TADS going completely black and weird writing on my Shkval. That was just in the Firehouse, though - didn't happen on the other servers. Strange.
I say it as I see it

Hmmmm. Tad going all black isn't a bug (that I know of anyway)- they just don't have maps of whatever area you're in at the scale you zoomed into. Not sure why back to school suddenly started crashing- it's been the most stable mission we have since day 1- it crashed yesterday too before I modified it. Hmmmm
