Eh guys... crew must be busy.
Anyway on another note I have noticed lately that the highway has turned into a real 1.2.3 mission- guys fly down the gauntlet, shoot up a bunch of stuff... then head to gelen... get more cannon ammo... head over to NOVO... blat the defenses... saunter over to gelen, bomb up and then run the gauntlet in reverse with relative immunity.
Crew has given me permission to modify missions (provided I indicate that it was edited by me) and I'm going to exercise this liberty on the Highway. Without going into MAJOR details I have taken something FANTASTIC made by crew and spiced it up a bit. I've had a chance to fly it A LOT, and alongside many of you- and it really seems to have lost some of its edge.
NO MORE.
Granted, a couple of my adjustments may need tweaking. These include:
A reinforced invasion force at NOVO. JTAC support at NOVO (playable by clients) Reinforced convoys along the highway with a slightly heavier anti aircraft component.
One thing I need to talk to crew about is extending that last 30 minute dash to about an hour, or more. If people want to go back down the highway and kill stuff- they MAY want to head back to gelen and rearm.
Anyway, I want to add that my interest in modifying the missions slightly to keep them fresh is in no way a slight on crew for his tremendous efforts- however if I can go in and keep the flow of the mission as he intended it while moving things around a bit to keep people from getting bored with it, that allows him to go into building NEW missions.
I've posted up the NEW highway for your enjoyment... or utter displeasure. We'll see.

Well I tried it out and made a rough landing at Glen with 1 blown out tire. Repaired and re-armed and went to novo where I promptly got my dick knocked in the dirt. No surprise there. I never did see any jtac listed. Only one other guy made it to glen but after trying to contact tower for repairs with no joy he left. I may try again later with some help at novo. One benefit for me is that forced me to fly using rudder through the turns and improved my piloting skills a notch or two

I went back over the mission editor and the AA component may be a BIT too much in the convoys. I may have to pare that down a bit... but at the same time I don't want it to be a cakewalk. I don't want it to be impossible either- so it'll need some balancing. What I wanted was LOTS of action... lots of gunfire... lots of "knocking at the door."
What with cannons being resupplied at gelen before Novo is taken (and there's no way to stop it) I was noticing (and participating) many blasting away at the convoys the whole length of the highway... to and from. I was taking a liking to plucking away at the BTRs to make the going a bit safer for everyone... and anyone behind me was able to just walk all over convoys with little concern of anything but the ground.
I also activated one of the Iglas at mission start- not sure if JTAC is working properly or not... I haven't tested it yet. Remember it's on FM- so it's radio mic switch BACK to talk to "Playboy." I did set it to "visible" so the JTAC can designate even without line of sight (AI). It is also "invisible" to AI- so it can't be attacked. I've set the callsign and the FM frequency to 30.000. I also set it to enroute task "FAC engage group" and assigned it to all groups at NOVO. I'm not sure what else there is to do.
I have to say also while going through the mission editor- the work Crew has done in there is astonishing. I'm learning a little more each time I go in there and to see the grasp he has on the flag system... very impressive.
Anyway! Off to RL.

I made it to Novo Twice. the SAM threat on to the Highway seems to be diminished... I flew at 2000 feet all the way to the bridge... never got one missile shot at me. Novo is definitely a site to be reckoned with. Its going to make mulitple rearms to do take it with one or even two planes.
I like it!!!

My issue was that we get 5-6 guys in the mission and 2 people alone can take out novo alone. Now I'm hoping that from beginning it'll take those 4-6 pilots working together to conquer. Also delayed the 30 minute to a little over an hour. Should give lots of time for carnage. I think you were safe because when you went through I wonder if the sites were empty? I never touched the SAMs.

One thing I'd really like to see in Highway is randomised enemy placing at Novo... don't know how possible it is though...?
I think we all know where all the units are hidden after a few tries^^

I think we all know where all the units are hidden after a few tries^^ You need to try it now... no matter if you know where the targets are or not your going to be there a while. Me and another fella finally made Novo Fall but it took 4 restarts to do it. Good update Eno. I like it better however the sam presents seems nonexistant? I got in the old A10 and took it up to 8000 feet over the lake and Not one sam was even sent my direction.

Like I said I think it's just because so many missiles were fired that they just literally ran out. As for randomizing it can be done- but at this point it may be easier to just go in every couple weeks and shuffle.

i flew in for a bit to test my adjustments to my curves, Finally able to fly DCS 1.2.3 without getting the epic stall spin crap.
I think i had to re-calibrate the sticks, but I ended up wiping the Curves in CHManager and putting them in DCS Axis Settings instead.
I also LOVE that Throttle Curve/Line someone posted.
I joined and flew straight through the highway and only like 4 trucks were left,.. Novo was already captured, so i landed there, and I think you changed the mission at that point, and i keep forgetting the chat command, so ... lol...
I wasnt on TS, as I wasnt planning on Testing the Stick setups online at first. I also ended up leaving DCS in 1 Screen mode, so I had 3 screens of the cockpit (distracting, but i made it through), i think I scraped my wing on the ground at one point after the lake.
Hopefully this time next week i have my TiR setup and running good, no more numpad pressing to look around.

OH I get it... they had lauched at so many poeple they had ran out of ammo... so if we had restarted the mission from scratch I would have been in a heap of trouble.

On another note, I think it's probably time to make an announcement in terms of the forward progress of the firehouse server and the new hardware / server partnership that is emerging.
Crew... want to pass on the good news? Omg I feel antsy like Homer Simpson waiting for this news... Gosh, talk about Fog Of War - Fog Of Brain is what I have. I haven't had a cold in a while and so this one is making up for lost time. Yuccch. Going to stay home again today - I wouldn't wish this crap on anyone (except Peyton Winsted). Editing iShot last Friday was a chore and by the time I got done I had to disconnect from the computer - this is the first I sat down at it again. Yes, we have good news - we are bringing up another server! The Hollo Pointe server should make its debut this coming weekend. I need a platform for mission development that is on-line and running the latest vanilla code from DCS. I'll be able to experiment with different options as missions get tuned up - letting things run, say, with Labels On to watch the flow in early stages, extra code messages of progress and testing of various options. Following Eno's lead with the Firehouse, Hollo Pointe will run Slmod - especially for the admin functions - and Slmod has enhanced functions like spherical zones and the ability to distinguish between ground and a/c units in zones and line-of-sight capabilities. Eno likes to spice up the Firehouse with other missions and events, and will run down-level code depending on mission stability, while I need a server that runs the newest version. I can't base mission edits on down-level versions because many things have prolly changed. iShot is no where near the same in v1.2.2 as it had been in v1.1.1.1. I have given Eno my blessing to modify my missions to run on The Firehouse (with a version indication change) so he can try different things that come to mind; this is another big step forward - it gives him the freedom to do things I would not. I told him a couple of weeks ago about this and I see from the thread that he has experimented with The Highway. It's going to be really interesting to see what a different point of view adds to the scenarios. I had made it clear in the past that I did not want my missions modified, but now with the Hollo Point server as my dedicated development machine, Eno can provide variations. It was back in late 2010 that we hosted the first Fly-In with the 104th Phoenix and stallturn servers - and we used both of them over that weekend. Now we will have two servers at our command. That's an i7-2700k on Windows 8 I had a spare case and power cord, so why not! It looks like v1.2.3 is out so I need to start that download.

I like that product shot too of the fire extinguisher- though I can't tell if it's at a point of egress or not?
Anyway- thanks for the blessing again Crew... as I mentioned, I'm nowhere near as proficient with the ME as you are so I may still need some help but I think together we'll have a great opportunity to provide fun, stable missions and variety that will be needed to keep everyone engaged defensive!
See you later!

on that note,
last night, when doing HDD Cleanup (down to 115 or so GB Free on the main windows Partition).
I deleted 2.3 GB of Multiplayer Tracks. one of them being 340+MB alone (musta been that mission I was having a good day, never crashed or anything, expended ammo, re-armed, repeat)

Is V 1.2.3 out yet ... just tried an update and got nothing ... also nothing mentioned on the ED forums
Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.
The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire

Yeah sorry- what I meant was Step 1: Fly the highway, shoot stuff. Step 2: Do 4 passes at NOVO- kill everything. Step 3: Rearm and fly back down highway, shoot stuff for about 15 minutes. Mission complete.
This is ONLY because we were flying it a lot.
I didn't mean for it to look like "DCS 1.2.3."
