Well, I did not make it to work... gosh darn it.
Actually I am able to work from home on days like this, so I got the morning issues out of the way even though I called in sick. Right after I emailed my coworkers, corporate sent an email that told everyone who has the flu to stay the frick home. My cold is better than yesterday but I should not be around other folks.
I'll make some edits to iShot and send them up to Eno and the Firehouse.

Republic, we had 1.1.1.1 up for a little bit, my guess is you tried connecting to it via ip, but from v 1.2.2. I see. I'll download 1.1.1.1 so I don't miss out. I really enjoy this server, good friendly folk and a reasonable realism setting. Also I've been frequenting SimHQ for a long time.

Eh crew glad you were able to stay home to get well. Perhaps I'll run into you tonight! Or earlier of course.
Power dropped out this morning so undoubtedly a lull in the server status but I was able to get it back up when I got home. I'm hoping to get in there soon!
Might put up 1111 for a bit of tanker training but only for a little while. Also need to stay on my cdu input training. I dare say I'm getting a bit better at it! Got to get more familiar with all the different pages.

I finished up the iShot edits. It is v..1f
Found a couple of issues that had to be fixed - will make things work as designed. Pesky Coalition In Zone triggers can be tripped by A-10C's so I tightened up on the vehicle advancing and camp spawning to prevent knowing pilots from triggering things when they should not.
The Air Starts are moved back from the main corridor. Warm Starts are left at the two main bases. There are eight A-10C slots on both sides and twelve Ka-50's on each side - but four Ka-50s are delayed start as they are further up the road at FARPs that get support later in the mission.
Added one Stinger type ADA vehicle to each base capturing group, and when those groups reach their airbase destinations they spawn separate soldier groups that assemble on the taxiways, with one MANPADS each. To trigger a base takeover, you need to kill all the opposing vehicles, but not the soldiers, however they will be in contention for a base capture if they are still alive - shouldn't be hard to spot - they are in the open. Blue Warm Starts at Min-Vody may be met with RPGs; Red Warm Starts at Beslan will face soldiers with rifles and machine guns.
If you do not have Combined Arms then you will not see the four Ground Commander slots on each side. But the Pool should show who is in those...

We had a full house in Ishot tonight. At one point all Blue slots were taken and probably 4 or 5 on Red. Made for attacking Beslan very difficult. Looks like Crew got the Spawn points moved alway from Min Vody and Belsan which made for a nice relatively short flight in plus took the respawn advantage away from defenders.
Whether or not it helped in the mission I am not sure. The scenario tonight was somewhat different than we saw Tuesday when the Combat Arms folks were there.
Tonight the Red planes were mostly hanging around Beslan and there were so many at least 3 at any given time... they kept the base well protected and provided mutual support... if one got shot down then the others would cover till the other returned so thats how it seemed.
I went over to red mid way not because I wanted to defend, I wasn't in an air to air mood last night... I went over to red looking for targets... However I set out for Min Vody from Beslan and got shot down at the mid way point... so there was all kinds of action.
To some the Fog of war and the F5 keys make the fighting a disadvantage ... I am not sure... I think its all in the personalities of the pilots really. Some like and live for the air to air... and others do not. I know that air to air threats can make missions extremely frustrating when concentrating on ground targest and trying to avoid air defense threats only to be blown out of the sky by a mav from behind.
Ishot is one of my favorite missions and I think its popular because everytime its up and running the slots fill up pretty quick.
Anyway thanks for the time you put in on updating the mission Crew I think its going to improve the game. And thanks for Hosting Eno...

After Eno left and just before I said goodnight, I thought I'd at least try to head to Beslan one more time and make that 90% into 100... if Ralfi didn't get me on the way in. So I'm looking around Beslan, letting my Mavs warm up, thinking I might be okay (hell, maybe Ralfi's out of winders?) when I happen to look back over my right shoulder... Ralfi was flying in formation with me, probably cackling like a madman. I had a run-in with terra firma shortly after

I need in infusion of situational awareness, all night the SAMs saw me before I saw them. Course the a10 isn't the best wild weasel platform. Sure could use an f-16cj.

Don't feel alone Republic. I was in there and flew the scenic route at angels 20 for 30 minutes and when I finally had Beslan in my sights and was preparing to carpet bomb the place with CBU 105s.....BAM! Within a nano second of the warning sound I went down like a terd in a churn. I'm not sure what hit me and didn't stick around to find out. By the way...during the 1991 war in Iraq A10s only had 2 air to air kills and they were both choppers. Of all of the missions I have seen in the firehouse the Bactria mission most closely resembles what I think a real A10 combat scenario would be like and I have been hoping to see it show up again soon. Hopefully after the patch finally comes out things will improve and a greater variety of missions will be available.

So I finally managed to hop into the server this morning for the first time after a crazy week of trying to find time to practice with the A10 in the midst of my ridiculous schedule. I've only just started messing with the CMS and dealing with stuff shooting back at me, still have little to no idea what all the SAMs are.
I can't remember what the mission was, but I snagged a cold start in Vaziani since Molasses was flying around there and I wasn't all that interested in being completely alone my first time out. Run through the start up, blah blah, take off and climb to angels 15 headed towards WP 1 about 50nm from the field. As I get closer I slew my TGP over to WP 2 and notice most everything was already blown to bits. I opened up the F10 map to try and find Molasses and catch sight of a large ground convoy moving parallel to me going the opposite direction back towards Vaziani.
They disappeared off my map so I started a diving right turn to see if I can get visual... as that happens, my MWS goes off for a launch and I get a missile icon on my RWR. I managed to catch sight of the missile going what looked like along the ground, so I casually popped a few flares (CMS was in semi-auto, just started the program) and kept looking. Not 10 seconds later I see the SAM out of the corner of my eye as it slams into my tail. Both engines go out, lost my MFCDs and HUD (I think), and the right engine is on fire. As I start to take stock of the situation and extinguish the fire, another SAM hits me, rips off the left wingtip, sets my right wing and fuselage on fire, and I start to spin out of control. Needless to say, being the inexperienced A10 pilot that I am, I promptly pulled the ejection handle and watched from about 10000 feet as my Hog spirals down towards the earth. Message pops up that a SA-8 got me.
Looking forward to actually flying with other people and learning the rest of the ropes, glad I found the server.

Eh guys...
Well we went in and cleaned out much of the remaining work in Rampant Bear, and now another old favourite is up in Back to School. That's a particular mission where I'd like to see ground commanders at work... Less A-10 adversarial... more A-10 cooperative against an enormous foe.
I notice at least 3 groups of tanks that don't move throughout the mission- perhaps because the triggers don't occur the way they're supposed to? But if someone could get all those tanks moving... wow... what a mission for an A-10 and some KA-50s!
Anyway, just thoughts.
As for iShot... It's all well and good for a guy to fly around in circles watching F10 with nothing but mavs and winders- while guys on the offense have to fly for 20 minutes just to get close to the target AND have to keep it all on the rails. If they get shot down, they have to fly another 20 minutes while if the guy playing defensively gets shot down he just restarts and has a new plane AND doesn't have to go anywhere (except to chase down the next A-10). The broken fog of war "always on" jeopardizes the potential of the mission and as a result it's causing much undue frustration. I'm not pointing the above at anyone in particular- but that is basically what ends up happening.
If both sides do nothing but buzz defensively around their own base... the mission doesn't move forward. The point made above about the A-10 having a predominantly DEFENSIVE anti air role is valid and this A-10 vs A-10 thing is getting a bit old.
Once the fog of war is fixed and people are stumbling into one another instead of performing CAP with A-10s and the all seeing F10 eye making everyone on the map visible, and NOBODY has an advantage... nobody has access to the benefits of F10 and F5- and people actually have to keep their eyes outside of the canopy- (novel concept)my tune will change. As it stands now, however, iShot may be seeing less stage time on the Firehouse server.

And this is where we see how easily something entirely random can happen as ED tries to merge different modules into one. So if something so ludicrous could happen... something so imaginable as having a gat (with everything run properly through to the next pylon upon which would be mounted the ammo)- imagine how easy it would be to botch multiplayer.
Had a lot of fun tonight... a really outstanding cooperative effort and it seems guys had a good time. There was at least one smacktard and one other I'm not sure of (if you come in with "" as your name, a person wouldn't be far from assuming you're in for no good)- but slmod played its part and I was able to ban the one guy... the other guy so far as I know was disciplined by the many SA-11s in the highway so I didn't need to deal with him.
MOST of the regulars know by now that I am EXTREMELY intolerant when it comes to friendly fire incidents... and when I say that (wheel) I mean the blantant friendly fire incidents. I am not an idiot... it's not hard to tell the difference between someone who is quite content to randomly shoot our guys down versus the guy involved in a 3 plane furball who loosed a winder at the wrong black dot. If you're not on TS3, there will be MUCH less tolerance than if you're on TS3.
Yes, we leave the doors open but as a result we do need to keep things clean and friendly. If someone is coming in clearly going against the overall style of play... Sorry guys- I'm just not going to put up with it.
On another note, I think it's probably time to make an announcement in terms of the forward progress of the firehouse server and the new hardware / server partnership that is emerging.
Crew... want to pass on the good news?

Announcement? Ohhhh exciting!!
Btw RMAed my board off yesterday. I have the 550ti in the media pc in the living room with 1.1.1.1 on it. Only playing using a Logitech Wingman so far but it's a blast on a big screen especially when I untangled the TrackIR and brought it out to the living room too!

I had a great time dispite my internet service provider's attempt to ruin it. I've learned how to deploy CBU's, how to use the CCRP, set targets with the targeting pod, etc.
I do need to learn how to use the datalink system better. I kept losing contact with the rest of you on my TAD and unfortunately stole a couple of tank kills from Mo. Sorry Mo. Maybe it was part of my internet problems? I looked at the F10 map after I stole the second tank, and I couldn't see any blues.
I do have a question though, on my CBU-105's I've had a couple of occasions where the launch was aborted probably due to me manhandling the stick the last minute. Anyhow the CBU says Aborted and will not release. I've tried reloading the DSMS, but no joy. Any ideas?

Great time last night, unfortunately I couldn't load up the Highway and decided to hit the hay. I loosed probably 8 CBU's and 8 Mavs on a huge group of tanks during Back to School, all by my lonesome. Everyone trying to land at Beslan was quite a sight.
Republic: If you get an IAM Abort (i.e GBU-38, CBU-105) it means you quick pickled it. I believe you can do a full pickle within 15 (?) seconds and it'll work, otherwise the battery in the seeker head runs out or something and you can't use it. Reloading the DSMS won't do anything, it's a problem with the store, not the station. You'll have to land and rearm.
