thats probably what I will end up doing .... just annoys me when companies ship off the aftercare of their products ... they obviously know that they have (or had) a problem, yet it ends up easier, quicker and cheaper to fix their problem (or poor design) yourself...I think I'm getting old and cynical....rant over

Pete.. did you get your stick profile loaded?

Eno, enjoyed the pics. Growing up, I wanted to become a firefighter, but a motorcycle accident injury caused me to choose a sedentary job instead. She actually surprised me this Christmas with $200 of Amazon gift cards specifically for "my flight simulator game"...

Pete - If you needed help with any curves or profiles you can PM me as we had spoke about a few months back.

tempus -
That's not unusual, if the unit is still under exchange warranty.

Yes, the unit is subject to having one of the three internal snap arms crack off. Happened to me, too, grabbing the thing the wrong way. Then the pivot joint needs to be taped up - but at least it will still offer a bit of a twist vs. some glue that prolly won't work. That is some plastic used in the Track IR Pro Clip - and will prolly take methel-ethel-ketone (MEK or whatever it is called, to cement the whole joint but then it will be fused and you don't want to get the angle wrong - so Scotch Brand type tape works best IMHO.

Whenever I have my Pro Clip out I am soo careful with it and do not allow anyone to get within a foot of it (that's like 30 cm for you metric guys).

If you have a problem with the seller at Amazon, or you are not happy with their response, just get Amazon customer service to call you. You put in the number you want them to call, click on a label saying "Call me" and your 'phone starts ringing within seconds.

I've found them to be very good at sorting out such issues.

I rarely use my clip- it makes my head lean to one side hahaha

cheers for all the help guys ... mine is now held together with electrical tape ... now I know the Item has to be light .. but why couldnt they have cast it out of aluminium ...far enough it would have cost slightly more to make but what is the profit margin on the trackclip pro ... materials cost cant be more than 2 or 3 pounds at most and retail 30+

on a side note I am seriously impressed by that fix ... now there is a use for an item I would never have thought of ..creative genius

Eh Guys...

iShot has been up since last night and seems to be going well- not sure where it ended up last night but I know both sides were getting their licks in.

Wheel and I had a nice gentlemanly duel last night where he directly overhead at 20k while I was bug mashing at 5k... It was funny on TS3 because as it was going on everyone in the game was watching to see who was going to blink firts... He had two full armloads of groceries as did I... and neither of us looked to be too excited to merge. He flew straight and level... I was watching over my shoulder for him to unload and come at me at high speed from behind...

But he kept flying, and I kept flying. Then everyone on TS3 chimed... It was good-

He had the last laugh because while I was watching over my shoulder I wandered into the reach of an Avenger site and got shot down by about 15 IR missiles.

I wasn't shot down immediately- though I probably took 5 missile hits that blew out 1 engine (right side) and cut off half my wing. I was actually able to stabilize the aircraft and though I needed to be careful how I managed my controls- I got it figured out pretty quickly and made the 15 minute flight back to Nalchik. I even got lined up on approach quite nicely- until I dropped my landing gear and lowered flaps... I think that bled out all remaining hydraulic pressure and caused me to lose all control.

Needless to say I should have at some point switched over to mechanical controls- that might have prevented me from losing everything when I dropped flaps and gear. I'll post some photos when I get onto the other computer.

On a final note- I talked to Einstein about the thread and the previous 450 post limit and he said the recent upgrade should have resolved that issue. That means this could be the very last itteration of the Firehouse Thread...

He did mention, however, that if anyone starts having trouble posting photos or links or anything that we should let him know. If that happens then we might need to start a new thread.

I've also been asked if we can post a related thread over in LOF- which I will be posting soonest. Basically it will open up the firehouse to a new community of passionate simmers and I'm ALWAYS excited about the prospect of having more people in the server to fly with (or against).

Holy cow! iShot has been up for almost 24 hours.

Molasses (Blue) and I (Red) were in a race to see who could finish off the other's main base - and Molasses cleared out Beslan before I could do the same to Mozdok.

South east of Mozdok is a FARP with an Avenger - I finally realized after getting hit by it three times in a row.

So Mo got Beslan and then a message popped up to recapture Beslan so I turned around and killed the three Blue vehicles that had come into the base after Mo cleared it.

Since the mission is still going, I assume that Beslan is hanging by a thread with three Red units at the base. Mozdok is prolly about 60-70% destroyed so it wouldn't take too much to finish that off, either.

I'll try to get in there in a bit and see if the scale can be tipped.

It's Lock On Files... A site of enthusiasts very similar to SimHQ. When I get the thread started over there I'll link to it in my sig, and link to this thread in my sig over there. I don't have it started yet though today feels like the day!

Eh guys... well just finished Operation Odessy Dawn with Mol and had a good flight with him. It's a nice mission with a variety of challenges- not the least of which are our friend on the RWR S6 and the ubiquitous IR threat. You'd think if you stayed up around 20k that you would be safe... but the rules change because there's a TUNG up on a hilltop which gives him reach beyond measure.

Overall the mission went well- I had to go back and rearm and refuel once and then landed on fumes. Mol was having some trouble with his lock ups and drifted into IR territory once... but then came back with a vengeance and left the name taking to someone else.

On my return I went into "bomb truck" mode with 14 LGBs up to 20k while he sniffed out the TUNG... made the area safe and then we both dropped down to mop up. Good communication, good flying, good fun.

Anyway, a couple of screens though nothing TOO exciting. A few included from other times- I'm getting a bit tired of the grey paint jobs so I'm going in and changing some to the European green / black. Where possible (ie: if I remember) I'll mark them as OD in the aircraft name. It's just a little touch that I like and some might also.

Wing issues...

Back to the highway for revenge with rockets.

Odyssey Dawn with Wheel and Mol...

Frames issues= artillery strike... (7fps)

Mol and I take it home...

... on fumes

Yeah... that's why I was politely asking if I could land first lol.

Was in yesterday with Blind trying to finish off Nuke Plant... 1 and 2 were toast and we went after 3 and 4- I got bombs on target but then Blind got smacked by a 10 or 11 and we had to get him home. He was basically missing control surfaces on the entire left side of his aircraft but managed to put it on the ground and let the insurance company take care of the rest. I called it quits early- though there was a guy in a KA-50 (Die Hard) who was working things over with tenacity when I left. He was a great mop up crew.

On another note I finally got the thread started over at LOF- and though it will undoubtedly look familiar (it's the first post in this thread) I have hopes that it will inspire a wide variety of interest in the server from their membership. I'm hoping that it will really help expand the number of simmers we have in the server on TS3. I like having people in there, but I'm not having a lot of good experiences with people who are in there who don't interact at all and just go in, fly around, and leave. They become less of an issue when we have more guys in there on TS3 working with the group.

Anyway, here's a link to the LOF Thread- in the event you want to check in on it. I'll be linking to that thread in my sig as well.

Alright guys- some of you were already through the New Years hours... Mol and I and wheel were in rampant bear 1111 earlier and had a final 2012 flight but I'm out now to go have a social life (quote unquote) and won't be in for a crossover flight.

Just wanted to say to all of you happy new year and I look forward to great things for us all in the new year.

I wish I had a screenshot of some of the things that happened last night- nevermind the 3 times Blind and I almost had a mid-air (looking over my shoulder for a target that was all blended in Back to School... when suddenly I heard the build up of what sounded like an aircraft approaching... and getting louder... and louder- I looked up just in time to be able to count the gun barrels on the GAU-8. We had a couple more distant deflections and in between our near misses no matter how lightly he touched down he was blowing tires. This resulted in some pretty wild rides- including at least 1 into a friendly airport truck. 1.2.2 is bad for this blown tire issue- even on my rate of climb gauge (what's the called again)... I can be around -0.5, not even 1 on the gauge and still blow tires. What's the proper rate of descent?

On another occasion I was admiring a 97 breaking apart into 108s and watching as they drifted towards the ground in painfully slow fashion when suddenly Mol came out of nowhere and jacknifed his way through. Apparently he looked up and was surrounded by parachutes... nowhere to go but through! Fortunately, that worked out for him and he passed by safely beneath the munitions before they reached their activation height.

I'm heading back up north on nights right now- I'm in the airport eating what could quite possibly be the worst quesadilla I've ever had... as if they day wasn't bad enough already!

Rrrrrrrrrrrr.

A few hours after that post ^^^ we got word that my dad's best friend Shirley suffered a sudden stroke - she passed last Monday. Not a fun time and so have been away with family.

The name of the new mission is 'Shirley's Cross'. RIP Shirley.
