During the Cold War, two types of 2K12M KUB-M (SA-6A) missile types were exported.

3M9M1/3M9ME*
Fielded from 1973, the basic missile type of the first modernized (export) system version (KUB-M1).

3M9M3/3M9M3E*
Fielded from 1976, the basic missile type of the third modernized system version (KUB-M3).
The new heavier missile has extended range; acquire target after launch possibility, and the capability of engaging hovering or receding targets.

All the Serbian missiles were the second type.
(Main differentiators: Nose color [grey/white], back fin shape [standard/with extended antenna at the base])

NICE!!!!!!! I think that was your "V Polete" missile that hit, correct? That was cool how your missiles lost lock and then locked back on after you shut off FM mode. Thanks! Will recreate!

No... My third one was in V POLETE, the first one hit the target... I've made a try to use second and third against the second "Tomcat" but it doesn't work...

Hmm... That was interesting! I killed it, and I think my original issue was that I kept the radar in FM for too long

The question, as this can be the F-14B knock Volkhov!

Next question on the video to S-200 Vega, you knocked this F-14B, I did not understand, but it really so hard to bring down it's not the SR-71

But why are you in the video used 55 kHz Vernier's not clear to me why you need it at all, as I understand it is needed when the target is very close and he has a very small error of accuracy hundreds of meters!

Next question about the Advanced Documentation of Volkhov Vintorez!

For what it's needed, I do not understand!

At the main dashboard in Volkhov

9 - h1 and h2 scale switch (h1 and h2, located respectively in the left and right)
While the missile is flying, you can see the K1, K2 commands transmitted by the SNR, by selecting the KI, KII, KIII (for the three missile channel) between the instruments, above the button 9. If you select hI, hII, hIII you can see the calculated (not real!) Miss distance (for the three missile channel), where the left instrument is for elevation, the right is for azimuth (one small tick is 40m, max indicated miss is 2000m). If you press the button 9 between the instruments, it will add 10x magnification, so one small tick is 4m, max indicated miss is 200

The question is how to set up a

OK, Uncle Vintorez hits the Vega! smile

1) Case: you launch missile without a GSN lock. Provided that no lock was obtained at all, the missile is lost always after the same ~60 km of initial flight, and that irrespective of its initial trajectory (low-alt, for close targets, or hi-alt, for distant targets). What is the reason? At least with hi-alt, the missile should have fuel / kinetic energy to cruise much longer, and drag should not be the issue. Auto-destruction triggered by some "KRO-too-long" stuff, or what?

2) Hpasp, you said once that increasing reflected signal strength while the missile-target distance is decreasing is fully modelled so that the missile can catch the signal in flight even if its strength measured at the radar remains the same (I mean, too low for LOBL). Is it really so? I haven't observed such effect even once, and I am sure there are at least several situations when, if modelled, it should bring a kill.

3) what is the difference between incoming- and receding-target related settings at GSN? Does the missile fired at incoming target with "incoming" GSN setting have a chance to continue track after target turns? In Ashuluk, I managed to kill an incoming target with V<0 setting without any problem. As far as I can remember, in combat scenarios it makes no difference too.

4) Is it possible to see your missile on your Square Pair display? If range screen gives you some idea about group targets, I wonder whether the hit (at least target echo growing for a short while - or blinking - when covered by splinter cloud from a close explosion) should't be visible too? The same with HARM launch from a tracked target (e.g. a speed strip splitting in two, and the latter accelerating before lost from the screen)?

Can we expect an S-200VE Vega-E (SA-5B Gammon) Manual Supplement from Vintorez soon?

With your permission and a little input, Master... smile

Actually, it depends only on the amount and quality of Q&As we all generate.
A week or so of such discussion and I should have enough 'meat' to issue another booklet...

Alright then, lets go with the SA-5. What are the other jamming modes simulated? How do you operate them?

Actually, I would prefer a Neva advanced manual, better...
...reason is that more functions of the Neva system are actually simulated, while the Vega has several ones, that are missing from the sim.

(they are not simulated, as their usability during real fight is considered insignificant by me)

Also the Neva has so complex antenna and target tracking system, that I bet only few of You really understands...
... even less its consequences.

F1/F2 <> Epsilon/Beta

ps: I also started of the preparation 3 new OAF scenarios.
