I think that's not real... His mark is HUGE! And "Blackbird" too.... They must be not so big on the screen

I dunno... But I know one thing:

I never seen the Blackbird on the screen, but has a friend who watched it regularly is Czech...

... so I would not discuss this aspect, but.

At the Wide Beam mode, the scan size is 20, and it is displayed at the indicators of 20 horizontal resolution.

At the Narrow Beam mode, the scan size is only 7.5, and it is displayed at the same indicators of 20 horizontal resolution.

This is why all targets are stretched 2.6x times horizontally at the displays during narrow beam.
dizzy

ps: if you swiths to LORO, than again the 20 wide antennas are receiving, so the targets are "normal" sized.

Yes, in narrow beam it "cuts" the height of the target mark, but SR-71 has "dirty coat" (I know that from you), and should be less vissible.... In "Sr-71 v/s C-75" the autor said that A-11 (Sr-71) has RCS compared to 2 x RCS MiG-17... I can't argue, because I am not on your level, just asking for explanation...

And on the "Neva" screen F-117 is so small, and on the "Volkhov" - a barn door.... Then why serbs didn't use C-75 to do the job? Steppin' on the "80-37" mode on Neva and "150-75" on Volkhov, the Sa-3 transmitter should be less powerfull (ignoring the size of antenas), but still... ( I know "Neva "cuts" the target too...)

Today the first V-750VMU 11DMU (Guideline Mod.1) missile hit its low altitude, receding target.

Currently all efforts goes into the development of the SA-75M Dvina (SA-2B/F) system.
I hope, that it will be released before the end of this year.

There are also a plan to add the scenario of 26th of December 1972, biggest bombardment of Hanoi (biggest bombardment ever since WWII).

Then why serbs didn't use C-75 to do the job?

They not had any operational SA-2 during OAF...

Between 1962-66 Yugoslavia fielded 4pcs SA-75MK Dvina (SA-2B/F) around Belgrade. (250th SAM regiment)
Between 1966-67, 4pcs S-75M Volhov (SA-2E) around Zagreb. (155th SAM regiment)
During 1974, 4pcs S-125M Neva (SA-3B) around Ljubljana. (350th SAM regiment)
During 1977, 4pcs S-125M Neva (SA-3B) around Skopje. (450th SAM regiment)
In the beginning of the 80's 4pcs S-125M Neva (SA-3B) was added to the 250th SAM regiment, increasing its strength to a brigade.

When the breakup of Yugoslavia happened the 350th regiment was disbanded, and its 4pcs Neva was strengthened the 250th around Belgrade, while its Dvina's were decommissioned.
The 155th SAM regiment was sent to Bosnia, and done nasty things using "Zemlya" against cities. nope
The 450th regiment was redrawn around Kraljevo.

According to the Dayton Peace agreement, the 155th regiment was disbanded, and its Volhov's were scrapped.

Thus in 1999, eve of the Operation Allied Force, the Yugoslavian Air Defense had:
Three radio technical Brigade (20., 31., 58.), with 17 radio technical battalion.
Two fighter regiment (204., 83.) with 14 MiG-29, 2 MiG-29UB, and 44 MiG-21bis fighter.
One S-125M Neva (SA-3B) brigade (250. around Belgrade) with 8 systems.
One S-125M Neva (SA-3B) regiment (450. around Kraljevo) with 4 systems.
Five 2K12M KUB (SA-6B) regiments altogether with 20 systems.
60. sr PVO around Podgorica
230. sr PVO around Nis
240. sr PVO around Novi Sad
310. sr PVO around Kraguljevac
311. sr PVO around Pristina

During the war, the Serbs tried to bring one decommissioned SA-75MK Dvina (SA-2F) system back to life, but NATO prevented it by bombing the system during its adjustment.

The Neva has a much weaker transmitter.

SA-75M Dvina (SA-2B/F) ~750kW
S-75M Volhov (SA-2E) ~1MW
S-125M Neva (SA-3B) ~170kW

This war was pretty close to turn much nastier, as the plans to field 3pcs S-300PMU1 (SA-20A Gargoyle) and 4pcs 9K330 TOR-M (SA-15 Gauntlet) were ready that time.

I know about this one. It was established on well known pre-war site, and was quickly destroyed... My point was that they had enough time to prepare some before the war.... Especially they have only "short hands" - Sa-6, Sa-3 and MANPADS...( They even mount IR AA missiles on land platforms, and use them too).

One more about "Neva".... I've heard rummors, that when serbs bombs Sarajevo, they attached 4 BM-21 "Grad" rockets to "Neva" missile, and launch those "packs" against the city... Personally I don't thing it would works, at least it won't be accurate.... Do you have more information about this?

Pretty similar to the KRUG.
Visible as the operator is switching between the target, and missile on the range indicator.

2, S-75M3 Volhov manual page 18 contains detection range of the MiG-21 with P-18 (Spoon Rest).

*I only discuss the F-117A capabilities here, that is already withdrawn from service.

So, for Sa-2 in Wide Beam - (0.001698/(2.2/80^4))^(1/4)= 13.5 km detection range
in Narrow Beam - (0.001698/(2.2/130^4))^(1/4)= 21.67 km detection range

for Sa-3 detection range - (0.001698/(2.2/80^4))^(1/4)= 13.5 km detection range
tracking - (0.001698/(2.2/50^4))^(1/4)= 8.5 km detection range

Hm... not so much...

Just an engineering miracle...
... plane with the size of an F-4 Phantom, has an RCS of the size of the helmet of its pilot.
approx ~17cm2

But if "Neva" tracks at only 8.5 km, how Colonel Zoltn Dani shot down F-117 at 13.5 km?

There is still one trick, that is not noticed yet.
I give few days before answering, maybe somebody find it out...

Did he shoot it down at 13km, or begin the engagement at 13 km?
