I've been to a lot of shows, but never (unfortunately) saw the Dead.

I haven't seen them since 1995, but I hear from reliable sources that they still put on one of the best live shows out there. I stopped counting at 50 shows, but I'm pretty sure I saw them over 100 times between 1983 and 1995. A great way to travel about and see the US and Canada, it was kinda like going to camp in the summertime, only alot more wierd.

Yep, I'm a huge Clapton fan, he's third on my list as far as number of times I've seen any given act, behind the Dead and Bob Dylan. The shows he did with Steve Winwood were awesome, I saw them in Cincy and Indianapolis last July.
I have also seen Phil Lesh and friends a few times since I last went to any Dead shows. These have all been good too, the "and friends" part is always loaded with a revolving set of wildly talented musicians.
