Is there a guide how to make it look more natural? I like richer colors but there is just way too much darkness.

I like the look with HDR off and some desaturation dialed in.

You can turn HDR off in the GUI menu and lower saturation in the ROF/data/startup.cfg file. There's a line in there for saturation, change the value from 1.0 to 0.75 (or something else to taste)

It then looks something like this, with just HDR off I find the colours a little lurid.

Just checked my HDR settings and they have been "greyed out" which is odd considering they never used to be and I cant get them back on.

Any ideas how to fix this???

Do you mean that the settings under the HDR are grayed out? If you turn off anti- aliasing, the post effects will return. If you literally mean that you cannot set the HDR on med or high, then it may be something other than the anti- aliasing. Did you check the startup config file? In the config file you can set HDR on and off. I have my HDR set to 3.

Instead of complaining about SPAD 7s, Central pilots should capture and fly them too. I suggest putting an apple in the middle of your Aerodrome field and just wait. Eventually a SPAD 7 will come by to get the apple, cause SPADS can't resist apples. This is how the Entente gets a hold of SPAD 7s, m-kay?

Hello Mogster,

What is the exact ini line? All that I'm seeing are gamma adjustment values.

No there's not. No line that says "saturation" anywhere in the startup.cfg file. Could you please tell me the correct syntax and where to put this line? Using the latest patch.

Sorry if this is a thread necro, but its what the search function gave me.

From Program Files\Rise of Flight\data\startup.cfg:

[KEY = graphics]
filter = 1
forest_distance = 1
forest_quality = 1
fps_limit = 59
full_height = 1080
full_width = 1920
fullscreen = 1
gamma_b = 0.90000
gamma_g = 0.90000
gamma_r = 0.90000
grass_quality = 4
land_textures = 1
landscape_mesh_quality = 0.60000
lights_count = 4
multisampling = 1
post_bloom_enable = 0
post_contrast = 0
post_dof_enable = 0
post_drops_enable = 1
post_effects_enable = 1
post_hdr = 0

saturation = 0.80000
shaders = 2
shadows_quality = 1
texmipdown = 1
vsync = 0
win_height = 1024
win_width = 1280

It's in there...

Thank you so much.

If I could find a 'rep +' button on these forums, I'd rep you.

[KEY = graphics]

forest_distance = 2
forest_quality = 1
fps_limit = 0
full_height = 1050
full_width = 1680
fullscreen = 1
gamma_b = 1.00000
gamma_g = 1.00000
gamma_r = 1.00000
grass_quality = 9
land_textures = 2
landscape_mesh_quality = 1.00000
lights_count = 0
multisampling = 1
post_bloom_enable = 0
post_contrast = 0
post_dof_enable = 0
post_drops_enable = 0
post_effects_enable = 0
post_hdr = 1
reflection = 1
shaders = 1
shadows_quality = 1
texmipdown = 0
vsync = 1
win_height = 1024

Worth a shot, though I have no idea why it's not in your .cfg there. I just reset mine after the graphic changes in 1.016 so I know I've got a current version.

Odd.

guys I too lost saturation option in startup.cfg after last update.....I tried adding it manually but no change in game appearance...also, post_hdr was set to 1 in cfg although I unchecked HDR in settings screen (before entering cfg). So I guess update messed my copy of ROF - again. Tried with reinstall but nothing changed. In past some of the updates messed my game and now again, I have bad FPS probably due to the same reason ("bad" update). I will try to download rof demo 1.015 and update this version....
In the meantime I reported the issue to devs....stay tuned

Instead of a fresh install, try using the Repair option from the update menu in the loader. That's fixed things for me when they've gone a little skewed.

OK got it working again...installed 1.015 demo ice, then applied 1.016 update....started one quick mission, quit to desktop and saturation option is back in startup.cfg...
regarding HDR.....was set to 1 in startup.cfg since I unticked post effects in settings screen but forgot that I need to set HDR to off before that (after update)...ahhhh finally

Just tried it with HDR off and I prefer it...I will lower the saturation though.
