Does look better I have to admit. Doesn't seem like too difficult a change to make.
Great shots though, I want this today.

Great weathering on those roundels. I think this has been asked before, but I can't remember seeing a reply. Is GT going to make avaliable the templates before release? It would be fantastic to skin our squadron's colours to be ready for the release. That would be a great Xmas pressie. *hint, hint*

Some minor modifications for the blue of the sky: For me, most sims show often too strong colors, a little bit like Velvia slides (for instance, I've always found that the Il-2 colors are too strong). For the comparison:

Too much green in the sky you meant there CHDT rather than too much cyan. Cyan already contains blue and is a secondary primary colour that's used for specifying part of the reflected colour set rather than forming part of the transmitted colour: that's colour that is seen emitted from CRT phosphors or light seen through the flatscreen backlight or through stained glass The cyan magenta and yellow subtractive (reflected off paper surface) primaries are inappropriate when talking about what we're looking at in the shots above which are the red green and blue additive primary colours. Cyan doesn't exist in itself in shots like this even if an object is coloured cyan in our perception, the colour of a cyan coloured object in shots like this (not seen printed on paper) is composed of blue and green Looking at a printout of the shots might lead to reducing the cyan cast in paint program/printer setup yes As I can't see legends or references on the shots, this one you've modified looks very good and has that feeling of being up there for sure - to me on my limited sample Less saturation yes we've been calling for that for years from Oleg but perhaps in choosing the level of colour saturation he wasn't advised by someone who understood colour theory or a landscape artist. Preferably a war artist. I went to Art College with John Keane do I qualify. Nice bloke. Are you him btw and do you know that those mobile paintstations can fit in the back of a Morris Minor Good work mate keep em coming please. At least it's not as green and deadly as F4's skies. Gloomy This one looks modified with Sunday morning in mind you must be religious Ming

"Too much green in the sky you meant there CHDT rather than too much cyan." Yo, of course you're right, I typed it too fast! And you're right too about saturation, the best thing (as it's often a matter of personal taste) would be to have some settings about the general color setup directly within the game settings. Btw, I do like your Sunday morning :-) "At least it's not as green and deadly as F4's skies. Gloomy " In Lock-ON, I've always had problems with the somehow pink or yellow sky. I've not played many games, but for me the best-looking skies were in a somewhat obscure Russian FTP called "Codename Outbreak", made by the team which is now making "Stalker". To me, the rendition of the sky and the general lighting athmosphere is simply capital for enjoying a game.

Btw, another thing about these screeshots, some kind of photographer's nitpicking ;-)
Personnally, I would rather enjoy an external camera which would mimic the natural human vision (so, 43mm in 24x36) and not a virtual camera which would act like a big angle (here, I would say about 28mm). This way, the lines of the aircrafts would stay more natural to see.
A setting in the game setup to choose the focal of the external view would be so great.

Definitely. One thing I'd like kept a minimum are bloom effects. Unnecessary fogging seems to be the current fad in first person shooters at the mo. Rainbow 6 Vegas is bloomed to death to the point where every level inside and out looks foggy. Why spend time producing highly detailed textures to cover them with fog effects? Subtle use of bloom effects please.

AFAIK Schafer, approximately one year from now to coincide with Oleg's BOB release.

coincide with Oleg's BOB release A strange decision, likely to reduce total sales of both! Six months from now would be best in marketing terms, to keep the momentum going...... Cheers, Keith

One thing to note: - Knights release date have no relation with BOB release date, its just a time which we need to complete all that we whant. Still, there is no precise date of release, but it "looks like" that its going to be Q4 2007.

Even though its still in this forum GT dropped the IL2 engine about 12 months ago. KOTS doesn't use the IL2 engine anymore although lots of people still seem to be unaware of this.

Yes Moggy let's hope Oleg can do HDR for us and keep bloom (a camera effect, Vaseline/humidity on the lens) to a minimum. High dynamic range for lighting isn't a gimmick like bloom and that other execrable lens effect I never talk about like the war wound VikS is KotS using the BoB engine or is it using a modified Il-2 engine do you know please? OpenGL and D3D? HDR? Ming

Ming Vaseline on the lens is a good description of the bloom effects in R6V, horrible. My main problem with HDR as used in Oblivion, GRAW and R6V is that its not compatable with AA and current cards. I get the feeling that fogging the screen with over bloom is covering up the lack of AA.
