I have a question about the sound modeling for this game...

When the pilots and gunners flew in these open cockpit wonders, they would often if not always wear earplugs to reduce the incredible noise from these older and somewhat un muffled motors.

Will GT model the unaltered clearly defined motor sounds? Or will they provide the engine noise in a muffled ear plugged quality?

Obviously we have the advantage over these vintage airmen in that we can simply reduce the volume on our headsets or speakers - but what I mean is, there is a difference in audio quality between the un-protected ear and the sound you would experience through ear protection - so would you want that to be modeled or not?

Because turning the sound down would also reduce the machine gun sounds - and since the motor may be a few meters from your ears and the guns directly in front of you - you might want to think about it a second.
are you mazohist or smh? \:D

As an answer on your question - we will model overall sound level, so if you dont whant to kill yourelf with sound Db`s - you will be able to lower sound volume. \:\)

I expect Gennadich to model the unadulterated in-your-ear noise of a rotary clanging away 50 centimeters from my ears. Then I'll wear my leather cap when I fly the sim ---- Immersion, baby!

Sorry about the confusion. But no, I'm not saying they shouldn't be simulated, I was actually having a bit of a laugh. I've never played Mig Alley so I don't know anything of the mechanics of that game (I don't actually recall ever seeing any screenshots, even). But enemy soldiers continuing to bellow a gleeful war cry whilst being rendered crispy critters is a bit on the chortl-y side... ;\)

I'm all for infantrie in flight sims; not because they are fun to slaughter but 'cause it creates more realism.
Finding it funny to kill little pixel men might be fun; but I cannot laugh about it hence I know that it did happen in reality and I cannot stop feeling sorry for the real poor b@stards that were shot up and died on the fields; bleeding to death.
It's funny, because they are little pixel men, and look so incredibly unrealistic and detached from reality that it tries to simulate that it becomes absurd, and therefore provokes a "humor" response, in some people.

...sigh.

Did it get that smoggy back then? That Fokker looks like its flying over downtown Seoul.

With the level of details so far shown within these updates, I am a little surprised to see that the engine is not spinning in the last screen shot.

Are these just artistic impressions or the 3D world in game shots?

Love the Flying into the sun shot, think it's going to be my desk top picture for a while!

Look forward to the next updates already, hopefully we will see some more of the KOTS world.

This just looks really terrific. Is it a little farther down the road, completionwise, than Battle Of Britain?

Hey LukeFF, thanks for your productive input, but I think you are missing my main point!!

Yes if they are preAlpha screen shots, from what we have seen in the past (e.g. the Nieuport video) the engine & propeller on the rotary engined aircraft rotate together, so I would have expected that it would be the case for the Fokker in the screen shots.
I don't think it's a stupid question so forgive me if I am not expressing it correctly.

Overall I am very grateful for the updates and any screenshots GT are willing to show us.

VERY happy to see our birds in the air! WOOHOO!

(Was beginning to get a bit worried, 3D-models only go so far).

Hey, how did this big ole bird slip under the radar screen this week....

Introducing the R.A.F. FE2b (a completely new addition to the Knight's build list)!

Btw, "FE" stands for "Fighter Experimental", and she was a fighter against the likes of the Fokker Eindeckers, but against later German scouts the Brits were known to form up these rugged pushers into defensive circles when attacked.

Interestingly, FE2's soldiered on as night bombers till the end of the war, and with Home Defense Squadrons, also on anti-submarine patrols.

Possibilities...... ;\)

Actually, it stood for Farman Experimental due to the fact that the aircraft looked like the Farman series of pusher-type aircraft.

It was also a P.O.S. airplane that couldn't hardly get out of it's own way. The Germans shot the he11 out of them to such an extent that they HAD to switch them over to night bombers.

They had a real bad habit of tossing the fuel tank and engine onto the crew in the event of any kind of crash landing, which usually ended up in killing them.
