Using the autoupdate, it downloads and installs fine,(or at least says it does), but the exe version in the setup screen still reads 1.02......

Yes, slight issue but you are up to date. Look at the UI screen in game for the version you have installed.

Only place I've seen the info. is at the bottom of the setup screen page, and it says 1.02. Also, I checked the AF exe itself, and it also still says version 1.02. Downloaded and tried the patch exe too.

I've got the exact same problem, tried all 3 ways of installing patch, no luck.

Well, I just tried to connect to a 103 server, and couldn't, got an error message saying I needed 103.
So, the patch definately didn't install right.
I'm going to try a re-install.

 Ok, did a re-install, but now have the usual lockup when the intro video kicks in. What's the trick to disable all the videos again? Man, this has become a real pita.

C3PO............. this may be more than a slight issue. I have F4 AF installed and patched to v 1.02. That patch installed OK. I'm using WinXP Home SP1.
I tried to update to patch 1.03 using the bfopsupdate.exe. It said it finished but I'm still at v 1.02.
Here is the BFopslog:

This is not patched to v 1.03, the UI screen says Exe v 1.02 build 50725, Build v Mon Jun 13 2005 at 12:19:48am. The exe says v1.02. There is no multiple controller support. That didn't make it in this patch?
I DL'ed the zip file. Unzipped I have a 11548KB file. When I run it all I see is a "Preparing to install" box pop up but it is there only for a second and then nothing else happens.
Yes, the CD was in the drive.
Update: Just for "fun" I DL'ed the 1.0.2 zip patch and installed it again. That worked! There must be a problem with the v 1.0.3 file.
Maybe someone ought to look into this!

Maybe someone ought to look into this! I finally got 103 to install......but it took a re-install of AF to do it, which isn't a good thing. Anyway, back up your logbook, and do a re-install, and 103 will probably install fine then.

Same exact thing as John. I ran the updater and it said update successful. But there was no "finish" to click, only "quit". When I went to join a server it said must update to 1.03. Checking the "setup" page showed still version 1.02. Tried the updater again, and also tried the exe. No joy either way. Had to reinstall.
No modifications of any type on my install.

Update #2: I decided to uninstall F4 AF and reinstall it again. After doing that the 1.0.3 patch did it's thing and installed correctly. Running the sim confirms that is is indeed patched to v1.0.3. The "dance" is beginning again??????

Guess thats the only way to get the patch to install. not a huge issue but a pretty annoying glitch. Thought we were past all this.

So... do we need to wipe the directory out completely and then reinstall or can we just rerun the installer from the cd???????? Do we just backup the files that have our pilot name as the file name e.g Topper.plc etc?????

Roger Joe but.... I posted this in another thread "No other cockpits installed here and nothing but the first patch applied. I tried both methods and neither worked. I tried the update app via the LP directory, it appeared to be downloading and installing the patch but upon checking its still version 1.02. Also downloaded the zipped 1.03 and got the "not a valid windows installer" nonsense. Thats a pretty shoddy release". I've tried both as you can see. Guess there might be a windows issue thats common among those of us having problems but.....
