Hi all
I am bothered with low FPS in this game - especially noticable in outside view, mainly in certain angles. for example look at this picture - notice the FPS counter on the right top corner of the screen:

and noe the same aircraft from a lower angle- very low FPS:

and again the aircraft from a high angle:

and from a lower angle:

anybody know why this happens?

shadows are "aircraft only"
BUT
I got a pretty quick system (Athlon 64 X2 4800+ and a GF8800GT 512MB card)
and notice that the FPS drop with the same aircraft in the same mission - just in a different angle.
I thoght that the ground as a background should make a heavier hit on FPS than the clear blue sky doesn't it?

The FPS drop is caused by the new Shadow system
as you can observe, even high end video cards have a hard time with it
One thing we might hope for is that future patches will enable a real multi core CPU support, offloading a bit the GPU....

ahh yesss
with shadows off I see a definate jump in FPS...
it's a shame really, the new shadows add alot to the eye candy. I don't know why the shadows a delt with the CPU, it's a GFX card issue IMHO...

init?
