Don't dump on the Rays. Their record doesn't reflect their heart. They're a scrappy team with mediocre starting pitching, but with a solid core. Who wouldn't want Scott Kazmir on their staff?
Thoughts to date:
1. Red Sox have an 11.5 game lead over the second place AL East team...which is Baltimore.
2. One word: Youk.
3. If the Yankees continue to tank, I wouldn't be surprised if Roger Clemens "decides to retire" or calls it a season based on some sort of injury only to play the same 1/2 season game next year.
4. Manny finally looks like Manny. Ortiz going to the DL? JD Drew showing some signs of life.
5. Yankees are 13.5 out and at least 9 out of the wildcard. Why can't this team just not make the playoffs for a year? Why must it always be "win at all costs"? That may be the biggest problem they have (aside from an abysmal bullpen, an aging line up with too many lefties, aging rotation etc. etc. etc. etc.). Cashman looks like condemned man, Torre is holding 2 hour pre-game team meetings, pressure pressure pressure "to win". Just go out and play the games. If they fail completely this year, it's because the team as constructed just isn't that good.
