I have not tested it yet, (some tests at college I teach, my turn!! hehehehehe) but could you tell us your complete pc specs?
As
vcard,
memory,
video drivers,
video settings,
special tweak setting (GTU or RivaTuner settings),
DirectX version,
monitor refresh rate,
EAW resolution it works,
EAW resolution it fails,
etc

And minimal files needed at EAW folder to run at UHR. Maybe I have another "special" file enabling planes UHR.

Well at least your 3dz viewer agrees with it Alessandro!

I actually tried getting the skin to run at 1024x1024 last night but it CTD'd. Tonight's test was a success. I managed to put 512x512 textures on the High res mustang, so it's now the equivalent of 1024 x 1024. Once I borrow Salty's 1024 skin, it should look really good

Of course this is a fat lot of good if nobody else can use it.

My System specs :-
1.1 Gig athlon, 256Mb SDR Ram
Ge3 Ti200, 64 MB, VGA Driver Ver - 4.13.01.2250 (came with the card)
Digital vibrance set to 3rd notch. I have "Expert Tool" tweaker but haven't adjusted anything.
Desktop 1024x768x 16 bit, 60 Hz Refresh
Direct X, hmm, wierd. It says - DirectX 8 is installed.
DirectX version information
Direct3d version 4.07.00.0700 DirectX7
DirectDrawVersion 4.08.00.0400 DirectX8
DirectInputVersion 4.08.00.0400 DirectX8
DirectPlay version 4.08.00.0400 DirectX8
DirectSoundversion 4.08.00.0400 DirectX8


Going through the resolutions in EAW Control 2000 -
640x480 works
800x600 works, but some terrain tiles went technicolour.
1152x864 CTD's
1280x960 works
1280x1024 works
any higher resolutions are not supported by my monitor.

I just put the UHR zip into a clean instal and it worked straight off.
Can work anything out from that Alessandro?

Alessandro, does the 3DZ viewer work with Windows 2000? I'm getting a "Applet NovaApp java.lang NullPointerException", or at least that's what Netscape says. IE doesn't run it either.

I thing it is enough info. I can not wait to test it at home....

Geo, yes it run in any OS supported by Java. The above pics were taken from my Win2000 station.
But you can use another tool to check your 3DZviewer, using jview at DOS prompt:

Jview /a myTest.html

myTest.html is your test page.

tested UHR:
640x480 works
1280x1024 works
higher resolutions are not suported by my monitor
all other lower resolutions crashes to desktop.

I have to try these Hi_Res files on my computer tonight and see if it works with my Geforce.

KMGPaladin - yep, still going strong! Hope to get a few more miles out of it yet

Pheeeww! That's a relief Alessandro. I don't feel quite as alone now, and I can share with someone the real UHR and FHR (guess the acronym!) skins I have planned

Did you need to do anything special to get it to work?

Does EAW crash if you try to refly a mission? If I fly other aircraft (not using 512x512 skins) they work fine in single missions, but if you refly it always CTD's.

Have you been able to find any commonground in the specs that might affect things, or do you need more info?

I feel that there is some hope here now that you have it working on your PC. As Andy indicated, I remember something about Chris Coon saying that the 512 skins should be usable if we did something to the .exe. I have no idea about where to go next - hope you do!

The most important thing is that it proves that UHR won't requre any re-mapping (but it probably will get re-mapped anyway fur full non mirroring)

Detonator 40.72
and...
1024*764 also runs !!!!!

see what a FW-190 did with the marvelous P51D HiRes
