Just installed BoB II WoV ver 2.12 after being away for many years, Have to relearn eveything all over again,(getting old i guess), Surprised it looks so well ! Just got a win 7 premium edition gaming pc that was given to me. Love win7 compared to win10/11. Will start learning the key functions again. Is there a quick reference pdf or something i can print out to look at while playing, till i get use to the key functions ? Beena CFS3 ,and IL-21946 fan for a very long time. When they came out i turned all my attention to them. Forgot what i was missing out on ! Love CFS3 BoB Mk1 too, and have mastered it long ago. Looking forward to getting back into this great sim. Everything seems to be working correctly for now. Thanks for any help. Regards,Scott
The BOB II , BDG v2.13 update was optimized for Windows 7/64 bit. I occasionally still fire it up on a win 7 PC built and saved for sims of this generation After installing BOBII try it to ensure it works, then install the v2.13 update. The manual is in the Docs folder. The v2.13 manual is very thorough and well written and covers all aspects of the sim in detail including campaigns.
Agree with Vox that the included BDG manual - like the hardcopy BoB original which I still have - is the best route into the sim, especially the campaign, which is the beating heart of BoB2, excellent as the included historical and training missions are. Good that you have a Win 7 box, as the extra features of 2.13 are very well worth having.
Tho needing picking through the A2A BoB2 'subscriber mods' thread to find, many of the user mods (enabled via JSGME) are worth having, mine are as below.
I like especially having the mirror-image A and B Schemes (upper surface camo patterns) for my RAF fighters:
After along gap from flying BoB II, thanks to a forced upgrade to Windows 10, I'm trying to resurrect my old Win7 box to get the old girl running again.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide for ways to get a fresh windows 7 install up to spec?
I still have my original Win 7 installation discs, so I'm good there.
Not much help here but I have BOB II running on my Windows 10 box, applied the BDG v2.13 patch. Only issue I have it runs in a small window. Been try to get it running in a higher resolution [ preferably 1920 X 1080 ] but no luck so far. I have the original BOB II on CD and used that for the install, then applied the BDG mod / patch. Got the BDG v2.13 mod / patch from " https://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=51298 ". You should be able to get it going on Windows 7 from everything I have read, good luck !
I run BoB2 on Win 7 on a dual-boot pc and while I can also run it on Win 10, I get regular CTDs with the 2.13 update. As for running in 1920x1080, this is fine for me, been a while but I think the trick is getting the right pick of options in the video set-up page, unchecking the option to run 3d in desktop resolution or something like that. Deffo works for me.
Thanks for all the help guys ! Been working on some other sims lately. Now have the time to start learning more. Been into CFS3 BoB Mk1 for years , and find this era very interesting. Heard a lot about this one , and want to try my hand at it. Oh, the joy of Windows 7 64bit ! Now i get to play some real classics that i can now afford ! Currently into Mig Alley, CFS3 series/expansions,CFS2,CFS, SF2 series, IL-2 1946 BAT, OFF, and others of this era. Love the classics better than most new ones out now. Excited about BoB II WoV ! Let the fun begin ! Regards, scott
Just getting back into simming myself and we are indeed spoiled for choice with so many classics queuing up to be dipped back into! I've started with Silent Hunter 3...
...and will soon start a new career in WoFF...
[
...then maybe back to sea in Atlantic Fleet...
..and likely dipping into RoF...
...CFS3 ETO Expansion...
...IL-2 DBW...
...and perhaps my favourite jetsim, something from Thirdwire's SF2 series...
...and Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942 for some tank action...
I too have most of the old school Flight Simulations. I have all of SF2 modules, patch to the latest version 2013. I was hooked on Flight Simulations since the first release of Microsoft Flight Simulator, it was wire framed graphics, yeah I'am old. Another favorite is iL2 1946 patched to the latest BAT mod version 4.2.3, the BAT mod can be found at https://www.sas1946.com/main/. By the way all beautiful screen shots thanks for posting !
