L.A. Confidential

https://www.amazon.com/L-Confidential-Kevin-Spacey/dp/B001N3HUP6

Another movie from list of movies I couldn't see when I as a kid

I did not understand most of the complex story except that it involves dirty cops.

Nominated for 9 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director and it won Best Supporting Actress and Best Screenplay.

This is one of the many nominated films that year that lost to Titanic.

The timeline of Mulholland Falls takes place in the same era, 1950's Los Angeles.

It also has a pretty power house cast.
Nick Nolte, John Malkovich, Chazz Palminteri, Melanie Griffith, Jennifer Connelly, Treat Williams, Michael Madsen, Andrew McCarthy, Chris Penn, & Daniel Baldwin

L.A. Confidential is really good.

If you found that film complicated, you might steer away from 1940s noir. The caliber of writing has declined, immensely since then.

I watched “LA Confidential” once and it didn’t do much for me. That was over 20 years ago though so I might have a different impression if I ever watch it again.
