Beery just saved me alot of work!

I may still do a terrain, but Rabu's old stuff will do until I can!

........Now, I can get back to making more slots & aircraft for ROTJ II!!

Hans Offen was able to get ROTJ-1c working for awhile.......Dunno if it is still working for him or not. But, as I said earlier, ROTJ-1c is going backwards. It doesn't have many of the latest improvements in aircraft & squadron performance, updated DATA files, or 3D mesh.

I put ROTJc and PL Allseasons together so I could use RBTweak to remove the bullet hit animations. The lastest versions of ROTJ don't seem to work with RBGTweak.

It did run fine, for quite a while, but then began to crash. Sometimes it would run again, but eventually it just stayed crashed.

I am now using ROTJc with TW terrain and it's stable. I removed the Alpha files for the water reflections. The result is a lot more realistic for my tastes.

Did the screenshot you posted come from a Glide-enabled game? Sure looks pretty.

I've installed Beery's various patche and Rabu's 4 seasons. It has become a *lot* harder to shoot down a bandit now (as in you need a lot more hits to cause him to go down). But the terrain graphics (from 4 seasons) does not appear any different from the stock graphic. Probably because I using DDraw (don't have a Glide card - yet).

Thanks for all your help guys, I've got RB3D up & running. Will experiment with the other mods (WFP, ROTJ). Any opinions on which goves the best "bang for the buck"?

Zero Niner: the 4 Seasons may look similar to the default terrain because Rabu did not use any different colors. However, his version is, IMO much more detailed. For some Glidos-enhanced screens of the 4 Seasons in 3D, click here .

A shot of Promised Land now appears in the slideshow.

Hmmm...problems! I've just D/L'ed and installed Promised Land and ROTJ2 PLV (all 80MB of it) and it's running pretty well. What should I do if it starts crashing? I have no idea how to install CM-based stuff. How does one go about installing the TW terrain, since it is in 4 separate seasons and not a single file? Does that all go through Campaign Manager?

Hello Hans

Did you say TW terrain? They look really good. Where can I get hold of a set, and how do I remove the alpha files? I agree, the water looks nice and dirty without reflections!

Cheers!

OK - I'm getting back into the best flight sim of all time (RB2 of course) after being away for a while. About to assemble the various "parts" - the game itself, Glidos (running an AMD XP 2200+ and a GeForce 4 Ti4600), the new PL graphics which seem to take care of all of my graphics needs.

What I'm a little puzzled by is what patch I need to improve some of the basic gameplay realism: not the FM, but where the Aces and squadrons are located and what planes they fly, etc. I see the WFP and ROTJ, but aren't these patches limited to specific sides and times of the war? What I really want is just RB2 but "adjusted" for realism in the time certain planes and aces show up, etc.

Thanks!

Jeff

TomW,

you can get Tom Winter's terrain here:

http://www.interplanetary.freeserve.co.uk/

Is your name coincidence?

Also check out his beautiful sunsets, they are worth it! I myself like the sky color reflected in the rivers, so I never bothered about the alpha's....
This is what I mean:

Jefflackey, WFP and ROTJ are both doing just what you asked for.

Hi all,

I'm getting back into RB as well and have been following this thread and others trying to figure what all to get.

Running XP with the latest Glidios wrapper (10/30) and it looks and runs pretty darn good (been waiting a long time for a good wrapper). I'm getting the sound prob after exiting and starting but I can live with that.

Great work by the community BTW, but I have a question that I cant seem to find.

What does ROTJ do exactly? The link I had (http://www.benchmarksims.com/ROTJ/rotj.htm) mentions nothing about what it does and I see no readme file. When I flew a quick mission with the stock and then I flew another with ROTJ and couldnt tell a difference between the 2.

Granted I only compared them on the "Fly Now" so its hardly a good test I know, but would be nice to know what it does (fixes/adds) so I can look for it while playing.

In the meantime gonna try the PL

(EDIT)
Well after reading a ton of posts I think I found my answer: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/Forum62/HTML/000432.html

On a side note I did find one readme but it was from PL (plsnd8.txt), so I take it ROTJ uses PL sound files?

ROTJ replaces nearly everything in the game except terrain.
