Hardcore. When you get it done, Email me again.
I'll setup the FTP site and get back to you though. I'll publish the info here later.

Oh for everyone who was on last Friday, I rebuilt my home network this weekend and I have good news.

I basically tripled my upload speed when hosting OFP.

Turns out one of the coax cables that T'ed off the cable splitter was bad. When I replaced it, then ran a speed test, the upload speeds went from 300Kbps to 900Kbps.

Can someone test connecting to the server by not using gamespy? Just connect via the remote option.

24.224.235.177 is the IP, password is friday.

I'm trying to get my Firewall config nailed down, but I can't test from "outside". That's where you come in.

OK, so it works, just that it doesn't show up on the GameSpy lobby list (via the game).

That's fine, as long as it works.

Re: Hardcore™ 's Addonpk

It's ready enough @835 Meg Winrar

Needs some tweaking and refining over time but runs good! I tried it with ECP, Y2K3, and WGL5.

IMHO:

ECP runs clean and smooth, nothing fancy. If you don't pay a lot of attention to external skins, it definately runs great, and with the right addons is totally acceptable.

WGL5 seems to run about the same, but with a noticable difference in realism - it's much tougher, but definately grows on you. With the right addons is totally excellent - My fav.

Y2K3 seemed a step toward WGL's realism, definately had fancier skins etc, but seemed a lil buggy.

My choice would be WGL5, but not too picky.

Would like to hear from others on what and why they like or don't like whatever else - suggedtions?

*****Why Hardcore™ 's ?*****
====================
These were simply compiled by and for myself for the purpose of creating addon packages and all their many other required addons in quick injections so to speak, to make more complex packages with more speed and ease. They were then made into a single package installer for members of Hardcoresims.com so as to remove the complications of adding excellent but complex multipart addons to everyone's game in a way that guarantee's everyone has them installed quickly, properly and identically for clean multiplayer data transfer - a must!

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Yes Friday's is plain vanilla v1.96.

Now that Hardcore has his all inclusive upgrade, we need to understand how we can still play "stock" and "mod" off one install dir.

It's on. The servers up, I just need to adjust the missions more, but it's ready.

I don't think it's showing up in the GameSpy browser so just connect manually.

The servers IP address is 24.224.235.177
The password is friday.

+G, the GOTY package finally arrived. Will try and get it installed, patched and test in the next couple days. Can't believe how long it took!

A thought - given how each player's hardware is different than the next guys, and how add-on's cancreate a conflict on one guy's config, but not the next - it might be wise to avoid adding lots of fancy add-ons all at once.

Vanilla works for nearly everyone, of course. Perhaps if there is a a general need or desire for a certain kind of mod that is aimed at MP (many mods primarily enhance the single player experience), it could get tested for compatability...one mod at a time.

I agree, let's get a few core players going, then determine the mods. Hardcore has an all inclusive package made up, but we need to understand how stock and mod can coexist and be able to switch between the two at will.

I've found a few good maps for hosting, so maybe this Friday will have a bit more players on, we had three on the 21st.

PS - Haven't forgetton about the Webspace Hardcore, just haven't got around to setting up the FTP location, maybe tomorrow.

GOTY up and running! An avid OFP friend, currently in Australia, likes to play it online. I told him to check out this thread.
