I was thinking of hosting a dedicated Server game of OFP tonight, any takers?

I just re-installed OFP/Res a few days ago. I'd love to get in some coop, but I wont be able to make it tonight. If you want to plan one for next weekend I'm in. I need to know what mods to use though. I've got just about every mod released, but I haven't even tried them all.

I had some fun missions I used to play with some friends at our LAN parties. I made one that had enemy patrols and other enemy units randomly scattered around the map. One of us would start in a random location on the map falling in a parachute, and the other two would have to locate and find the lost guy. They started at a base and could take a helicopter or use trucks to search. You had to be careful in the helicopter because enemy AA was randomly scattered around the map too.

That's the big problem, what mods.
I have the OFP GOTY edition installed. No mods yet.

Any large good coop map suggestions would be appreciated.

You don't really need any other maps, the default islands are good enough unless you've been playing a LOT.

As for mods, the FFUR one and WGL (especially) mods are the current "hot" ones.

G+ - great to hear you are hosting co-op games. In hopes of circumventing cd drive conflicts with patching up from original game and separate add-ons, I ordered the GOTY last week.

My two cents - adding mods acts as a filter against an already limited pool of players. Can also sometimes burn up time trying to solve conflicts or individual install issues.

But if you are limited to just a couple of regular friends or players, who don't play with others on line with varying installs, then what the heck.

OK, how about a regular, Friday evening game? Say from 9PM EST onto the wee hours.

We'll stick to the stock GOTY version of the game.

Now Jedi, I know you're an expert at OFP (you certainly have some neat sound scripts).

I'd really like some suggestions for say, a 1-8 player COOP map (or three).

Magnum had us setup with a few at one time, but I don't remember their names.

I can even setup a dedicated server (that way my PC doesn't LAG out). I can even setup TeamSpeak on it, password protect it to keep the rif raff out, etc.

I'm free Fridays and would like to join you guys. Just give the time and TS info and unless something unforseen comes up I'll pop a few downrange with ya.

I have all the popular mods except FFUR. I have FDF, ECP, all the BAS stuff (my favorite due to the cool rifles). This is the stuff I have installed

If you need a TS server let me know, I can probably hook us up with one at Frugals.

OK, a 7/24 COOP server is running for you guys!

Server information.
Hostname = "+G's COOP Server"
IP Address=24.224.235.189
(you can also try connecting directly using the REMOTE button and typing the IP address directly)
MaxPlayers = 16

I put a few COOP maps on it.
Let's see how stable it is.

PS - If you notice any smacktards playing, let me know, we'll put a password on it.

LOL, yeah, I used to change those sounds every time I played. I've been on the same set now for well over a year, though, since I play it so infrequently. \:\(

I'd certainly like to try and be there sometime!

Good deal. Let me know of any good, small squad COOP maps.

I like ones that let you respawn, I'm still a cadet.

Thanks +G! This is great. Got an e-mail confirm that GOTY has shipped, so I'll wait for that rather than dance with the separate packages.

Respawn is definitely my preference; as is co-op. Even so, often enough you end up as a seagull performing crude UAV missions for The Living.

There are some good missions at various sites:

A direct link to a Co-op list of 195 missions on the OpFlashpoint.org site:

Thanks Eugene, I'll check into a few of those today.

The "stock" server is running now, I have a batch file that will restart it if it crashes.

I'd like to suggest that anyone who wants to play on Friday, that you go on the server earilier this week, go through a few of the missions. That way they are already downloaded into your PC.

Next up is a good TeamSpeak server.

PS - Be patient with the server, the downloads will start, there's a slight delay before the file starts, but it will start.

Guys, you may know this already, but Magnum's TS server is still up and reliable currently:

69.12.31.35:8908

But if +G gets another one up, so much the better!

Hoping for the GOTY edition to arrive by tomorrow, but so farit has not arrived. I'll keep it vanilla at least for now, for compatability.

Just popped in. Used the straight Res shortcut and played the guerilla assault on Lipany mission. Chose 7 AM and it was very nice atmosphere \:\)

Connected no problem using remote. Mission was 850k and loaded up quickly. Everyone was killed including me. \:\)

The fog keeps you on your toes.

Seemed to be a little lag, but I usually host, so what I saw might be normal. Seemed to be about a one second disconnect between shooting a guy and his reaction to the round. I'm good to go for tomorrow.

Didn't join Magnum's comms because no one else was in the server, but if he doesn't mind I think that would be a good solution for comms.

FWIW, there should be no reason to reinstall, unless I'm forgetting something, just use your normal resistance shortcut/exe.

I noticed a few people have gone in. The server seems very stable.

That first map is pretty good. The second one, where you're a bunch of civi resistance folks, who have to take down a bus (for weapons) is very hard.

If Magnums TS is running that would be good, less drain on the server Bandwidth.

I think I'm able to join using the local IP address on the LAN so that cuts down on my ISP bandwidth again (I have two Firewalls and two seperate "streams" of bandwidth from my cable company).

Would like to suggest something, but I have no clue which missions require which mods.

As for type of missions, I like infantry attack/assault type missions. Helo or para insertion a definite plus. Especially ones that require some tabbing to the objective, maybe passing through or around several enenmy held towns. I don't much care for missions where the enemy has lots of armor. I'm a grunt in OFP, not too interested in driving or flying, but can in a pinch. I can make for a memorable truck ride \:\)

I had a quick look to find some missions, but most of my old links seem to be dead, and the editing center seems to be undergoing some upgrade.

One thing I used to do alot when hosting was use some templates in the mission wizard. I could then move the enemy units and our start point around, making it a little different each time. We knew what to expect, but not from which direction etc.

Wish I could be more help in finding missions. There are thousands out there, but I'll have to have a look through my MP folder and see if I remember which ones are good and require no mods.
