The old forum is running again with all the hundreds of old posts to search and reference:

http://www.ww2fighters.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news

There may be other forums out there but I cannot log on them and assume they are down. Perhaps we can meet on the above(?) Try it.

OK, now see, this is bizarre. I think what's going on here is, depending on where you are or some other variable, different people can get into one (or more) of the forums on a regular basis, and not the other forums. As a result, we're all divided up between the forums, maybe? I can almost ALWAYS get into the old forums, but the new forums is where I get the server error message 99.99% of the time. Then there's the new version of the old forums, which I can access, just can't post there.
Seems like we can ALL get here though, so for now, I'll be checkin' in here as well as:

http://www.ww2fighters.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news

Hope to see you there!

This is all too weird. I can access that one all the time, but I cannot access the new PHP ones.(I did get in one time only.)

Makes no sense.

* What makes the best sense is if we all can access the exact same forum ( I still think the old or original forum with all the old posts is best for continuity and research ).

Big Dog, TimeBandit, Swiper, Bill Grant and others can get to the old one ok. Hmmm.

Keep trying!

I try every day...like the twitching leg of a dead dog.

Yes, the WWW is directing us to different sites depending on where we are connecting from because the old host still has our s**t up on it's server. The OLD forums shold be gone and that's probably the reason for all this. I can access the new forums everyday. The new version of the old forums will not let me login.

Actually I have a different address for each one so it seems to me that one can select any of the forum addresses.

A. Original Forum:

http://www.ww2fighters.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news

B. new forum:

http://ww2fighters.net/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/index.php

C. I-don't-know-what-this-one-is-forum:

http://www.ww2fightersforums.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

I can only speak for me but "A" is fully functional and people are posting, "B" I cannot get to ( Page cannot be found ) and "C" has posting problems and appears useless and no one is posting there.

Any other addresses?

oh yeah!

Frames are at:

D. http://www.ww2fightersforums.net

E. http://www.ww2fighters.net Original Forum

F. http://www.janesww2fighters.net

that makes it more confusing as frames also have different content, news and forum links.

PC

Yup. That's what's going on for me too.

"A" is fine, "B" I can't get to, and "C" I can get to, read posts, but when I log in and then select a catagory, it doesn't KEEP me logged in, and therefore I cannot post.

Interesting...

I can't get on A, can get on B, and am permanently logged on to C.

Weird...

LNL: C is corrupted - check above post and try the frame links D, E, F. Right now it seems pilots are flowing back to A for the forum. Odd you cannot open that page link directly ...

I generally bypass the frame links unless I am looking to download something.

see if you can get into "A" through the frames or try this:

Just tried to get into the old forum myself this AM, and got the 500 server error message too. I've had this happen before, but it doesn't stay down too long.
Hey, I think we're all starting to obsess about this a little too much. Sure, WW2Fighters.net feels more "homey" than here maybe, but ya know what? We can all still get to each other here for now, and we should do so. And as far as I'm concerned, it's the guys in this community that make it what it is, and are a pleasure to visit with. Bucc will eventually get back to this, and get the whole thing straightened out, but in the meantime, let's just all hang in there. Deal? \:\)
Alright, so, I've been playing around with writing some simple "missions" that are more along the lines of training type things for basic combat maneuvers. I take the description of the maneuver and it's basic steps right out of the WWII Fighters manual, and while you're flying, an instructor "talks " you thru it. Does this sound like it would be of any interest to anyone? I have one done for the "Split-S", and will work on more, if I think there's an interest.

Cheers, TimeBandit

Oh suurrrre! It's all fun and games, until someone gets a wing blown off!! \:D

TB: Flight training missions with an instructor on the "radio" sounds great for new pilots as does Gunnery training with an instructor on the "radio" directing strikes on ground targets ... by the time the pilot gets into an immersion campaign he should be ready for combat!

As of this moment, I can't get in there either. Although last night I was able to get in and POST, thanks to the trick Bill posted. I was trying to get in thru the janesww2fighters.net website, and it doesn't like that when ya do that. \:\) If you use the direct link, it behaves itself, although, like I said, right now I'm having no luck gettin' in. Will try later.

TB: Trick? There's a trick? Hmmm the trick must have been posted on that forum LOL. The only time I ever got in was to keep hitting refresh - but that does not work anymore - any activity going on there? BTW, what's the trick? \:\)

Heh heh!! The trick WAS in fact posted on that forum, and he gave the direct link to the forum to get in, rather than trying to do so from the menu on the janesww2fighters.net site. However, that doesn't seem to be working anymore either. Not a lot of activity there anyway. Mostly here and at the original forum.

Trick, there's a trick? Actually, I have on my favorites all three short cuts and TB is correct, a direct route is the way to get there. I'm referring to the site just above two or three posts by PC. How do I know this, because I'm logged in there and never log out and when I go to the site through the new blue site I get a completely different site on which I'm not logged in.

Very interesting. I do know that ~Bill is trying to get it straighten out and hopefully we will see some progress very shortly. In the mean time, keep checking here and ~Bill will probably jump in and let us know when he has it figured it out.
