The new P-51D overhaul was done by Rammjager, Bury and Buccaneer. The changes from the original Jane's model seem endless and are very dramatic. Rammjager's skin is a remake of his version 1 Mustang skin, 'Sixgun Whore'. The installation follows the new methods developed by Buccaneer. This makes for a much shorter install process. There are well over a hundred new files, but most of them you'll never see because the P-51 now has it's own SQS archive that simply copies to the data folder during the install. That means skins for this mod will install in one second! The version 2 cockpit files are included and do not need to be installed seperately. Those files are no longer being hosted for download as an individual mod.

Have a safe and fun Independence Day all you yanks! Happy hunting.

Hi RammjägerII,

Outstanding Artwork! Hats off another time. You've set a new standart, even for the other sim (which is, according to some sources, desperatly in need for patch \:D ).

C u all in the new Forum!

I am having a problem with the new skin, some textures are not showing up on the right side of the plane and the right side tip of the tail is invisible, otherwise it is great.

Excellent job Ramm! How appropriate to deliver this beauty on 4th of July! Unfortunately I am having a slight mapping problem as well. The aft right fuselage side, tail, canopy rails, and underneath the flaps are not showing correctly. I am attempting to attach some screenshots to show what I mean. Ignore the strange coloration, it looks fine in the game, but the screenshots came out a little funky.

I am running WinXP and a Radeon 9700 Pro with all settings maxed and 4xFSAA and 8x AA.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? (Besides messing up these pictures;)

Be sure to install to a fresh ww2.sqs. Bill Grant had similar problems until he reinstalled the sim. Try a new sqs, if that doesn't work, try a new install.

Here's what I think is happening:

If you have the original Six Gun Whore installed, and you install the new Whore over it, there may be duplicate bmps in the ww2.sqs file and the new P51Dv2.sqs. Well, not duplicate bmps, exactly, but bmps with identical names, and the game can't decide which ones to use.

So you need to start from a ww2.sqs file that does not have the original Whore installed.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your quick replies. I have a backup copy of my sqs file, but I am in the middle of a campaign. Is there any way to "save my place" in the campaign or will I have to start all over again?

I don't think it should make any difference at all. You have a campaign folder, correct, with all your campaigns and campaign missions in that folder?

The ww2.sqs file should have no effect on that, to my knowledge. But if you're worried, just backup your current ww2.sqs to a different folder, and plop it back in place if you find you can't pick up right where you left off.

Well,
The good news is that changing sqs files doesn't seem to effect the campagin. Unfortunatly, my backup sqs file already had the whore on it. I tried to "uninstall" her by installing a new P-51 over the top of her, but the only P-51 I can find (I can't find my add on CD right now) is TheFlyingDutchman's B model that was based off of the whore in the first place, so the same thing is happening. I'll have to dig up a virgin sqs file from my add ons cd or from the origional disc and reinstall all the mods all over again. \:\(
Thanks for the advice, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Okay, I've created a little toolbox that will let you fix your existing ww2.sqs file if you have the original Six Gun Whore installed and you are experiencing texture problems with the new version.

You must read and follow the instructions carefully and exactly. This should both fix the problem and save you the trouble of having to reload all your existing mods into a fresh ww2.sqs file.

Even if you've already loaded a fresh ww2.sqs file, you can still run this fix against your old one if you like (provided you kept a copy...)and put it back into place with all your other installed mods intact.

You can download this fix here:

Ramm: am watching the History channel which has a P51 with the same paint scheme - called Miss Helen. You did a fine job mate. Nice ride indeed.

Oh BABY!

Great work Ramm.

I had the same install problem and put in the original ww2.sqs file from the original sim. Then installed V.2 and it worked perfectly. Having had install problems in the past (my fault, not the modders) I finally took the advice of all and created a folder on my hard disc which I call "flying files". It is not under Programs so it doesn't conflict with anything. I have installed WW2 Fighters in that file folder also. In this way, I have a complete backup of the original at hand at all times.

I also use this folder to hold missions I have created and any downloads so I have clean copies of everything. Highly recommend this method.

Rammjager,

Absolutely BEE-OO-TEE-FUL!! I DLed and installed it yesterday, and WOW! It has an almost photographic look to it. Incredible!
One question. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you posted "work in progress" type shots at ww2fighters.net, I believe there was some alternate nose art for the mod. Was that included in the DL, and if so, where does one find it and install it?

Thanks again, TimeBandit

Ramm,

I have a different issue with the new Whore. I hit the install file and get a VERY fast window opening and then closes but in game the new Mustang is not in the sim.

I have purchased a new PC and still have not transfered over the other mods I have on disc so it is a clean sqs version. Any suggestions would be appreciated. THANKS!

Ok rookie mistake. She's installed and OH SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! WHAT A GOEGEOUS WHORE she is! \:D

And I had her engine and one wing shot off and OH SO AMAZING the level of detail in the engine compartment area AND the wing spars AND the tires showing through ... HOLY COW RAMM!!!!!

Ok I do have one thing to ask ...in my new PC I have the 9700 Pro card ... it just doesn't gibve the level of graphics quality I saw with my old Voodoo 5 card (BTW I have the Whore in that pc too and OH MY just gorgeous except the sim is SO SLOW with the new Whore and Hammerds i90 and 109K!!!!

I know the Radeon is a better card and my new pc is a hell of a step up - what can I do to give me that same feel I had with the Voodoo 5 in the old pc?

Thanks Bucc, for posting a fix.

The error is coming specifically from having the v2 cockpit mod installed to your ww2.sqs file previous to installing the new Mustang. As it says on the Mustang download page at janesww2fighters.net, you can throw away the old v2 cockpit mod because it is not compatible with the new files. Or you can keep it if you want to use it with an older version of the Mustang. But whatever the case, it's no longer available for download, just to avoid confusion in the future. \:\)
