I just heard about this and felt I had to say something.

I am sad that the site will be going down. WWII Fighters Online had a great community there while I was there, and this news makes me even sadder to know that I may have had a hand in this happening. If this had happened as soon as two weeks ago, I'd have been happy as a clam. But since I came around a few days ago, this is very painful to hear. I am wondering what will happen next.

A sad occasion indeed....

[And now that I have had more time to think about this, the more hollow my words sound....]

Howdy Girls!

I thought I'd put up a post explaining what happened. I don't know if Fluke or Hemi is planning a more detailed explaination later or not.

The #*^!% forums crashed again. After it got sorted out the first couple of times, it seemed to be working fine but, last night it went belly up again.

So hello everybody,

new place, same old guys.
Auch hier meine erste Frage: Gibt es außer Swipers noch eine andere deutsche WW2F HP ?

See You all 'round here.

Used to be Rammjager. Still would be if I could remember my passward here, but I changed my email address also, so I had to come up with something new.

I'll put some work into my website and start posting news and mods there. I have no intention of giving up on my mods, so I'd still be happy to share them with everyone.

The closing of WWIIF Online is something that we've been discussing behind the scene's for quite a while now, and we had plans of announcing it soon. Once the boards "crashed" again, we decided now was as good a time as any to mention it. We aren't shutting down because of any incidents in the recent past, or any current issues. We, Fluke and I at least, have merely rode this thing as long as it was enjoyable for us, and it's time for us to move on to other things. I myself have just entirely lost interest in WW2F Online, and the upkeep involved with the site. As Hammerd said when he "retired", when it's not fun anymore then it's time to move on. We have one hell of good community on the WW2F forums, and I'll miss that, but I sure won't miss dealing with the site issues!

I hope to see everyone hanging around this forum, it would be too bad to lose touch with you guys.

-Hemi

Rammjager: Good to see you here. You might try e-mailing the Admin here about your handle. I've seen people sort these things out. Also, you could try a spelling variation, or add an umlaut (Rammjäger) and re-register. IMO, it is important that the WW2F "stars" like yourself be recognized over here.

You use the Character Map in Windows. Usually, it is located at Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Character Map. A chart will open showing lots of different characters, like ã,§,æ, etc. In W98, you click on the square to select it, and it will show a code to type to make the symbol. For example, the registered symbol can be typed by holding down the alt key and typing 0174. The result: ®. Or you can copy the symbol and paste it into the word. In WXP, I believe you can only copy and paste.

Edit-the short version:-try typing alt+0228 (hold the alt key and type 0228). You should get ä.

Hi there, guys. Glad to see some of you have moved over to this site - hope this will be as good as the 'old' one.
And 'old' Bill, he's over here too?
What about mods, will they be downloadable from SimHQ?

Regards,
Slangen.

Well, Guys, I just signed up for membership at the other site and now it's gone.

I was just starting to get back into this sim and was really excited about all the fantastic mods coming available. I even had fantasies about painting some skins using some of these mods. I sure hope that we can keep the crowd together. I have a ton of questions pertaining to skinning. I got to believe that some site will be available for the mods to be downloaded from.
