The latest patch is 1.08f, available at WWII Fighters Online (ww2f.dogfighter.com), in the Downloads section.

Go here: http://www.ww2fighters.org

Patch 1.08 was the Final Patch for WW2F.
There are a few localized versions.

No, it will not affect your downloaded skins, IN FACT, some might not work correctly with out it!
There are serveral utilities available at that site that REQUIRE you to be patched to 1.08 first.

Thanks for the link Bill!

By the way, the only thing that I always found slightly odd in Jane's WWII Fighters was the damage level inflicted on enemy aircraft. I was able to destroy an enemy aircraft (specially fighters) with very, very few hits. Is there a mod or fix that corrects this issue?
Thanks in advance...

Go into the game options and lower the effectiveness of your ammo.

But also remember that how severely you damage an enemy aircraft depends on WHERE you hit it. One burst to the fuel tank is all you need. A half-burst on the pilots head is all you need.

Yes I know that! But even so I was always with the impression that the ammo (at least with the settings that I had) was too effective in Jane's WWII Fighters.
What is the value for the effectiveness of the ammo that you advise? Or that you think is more "realistic"?

By the way, thanks for the reply.

If you have the "EA Classics" version of the sim (IE, the budget bin CD jewel case version) then it came with the 1.08F patch. You would have had the option to apply the patch at the installation menu.

One way to check is to look at the CD-ROMs themselves and read the info on the label. The original North America release of WWII Fighters was copyrighted 1998, but the re-release (with the patch included) was copyrighted both 1998 and 2000.

----------

I'm not sure if its that the guns are too strong or the damage model is too simple (or planes too weak) but I think ricnunes's observation is more correct than wrong. There is no mod to change DMs or weapon strength, however, because as far as I know that part of the code is still 'locked' or else not fully understood.

Thundercat's downloads request prompted me to give this sim another run-through especially with so much more available.

I started with Beurling's compressed Spit file and extracted to WW2F folder but when double clicking on the batch file icon, keep getting in DOS window;

Error; Could not open <..\WW2.sqs>
...<..\WW2.sqs> file must exist

I needed help on the same thing about four years ago but can't remember the procedure!
Any help much appreciated. \:\)

Incidentally, the Beurling picture file makes a great desktop background.

1. Extract or remove the Spitfire files from the .zip folder.

2. Move the extracted Spitfire mod contents to your "Jane's Combat Simulations/WWII Fighters/Data" folder.

3. If you used an extraction program like PKUnzip, make sure that it didn't add an extra folder around the mod folder named after the .zip file. An easy way to check this is to look at how many folders are surrounding the SQzip program: there should only be one or less folder levels between SQzip + .bat files of the mod package and the rest of the content in the Data folder.

4. Check that the properties of the ww2.sqs file in the Data folder allow new information to be written to it. Do this by right-clicking on the ww2.sqs file and checking that "Read Only" under Properties does not have a checkmark next to it.

5. Now run the mod's .bat files.
