Good Morning.
We just received a report on a new technology used by ICEFOR called "DreamLand" that connects a pilot with a "virtual cockpit" that utilizes brain's alpha waves, so the pilot can fly and combat while he is sleeping! First tested by "DUKE" last night. He was sleeping, but his plane was doghfighting all over Iceland according to the tactical map.
Another very useful device permits to a plane that lands in a different AB to then "taxy" to his original one, going underwater and...undermountain! this technology has still to be fully tested, since often the plane explodes underwater, probably because of the high pressure.
JAG is still working on a "conspiracy theory" that involves the higher ranks of ICEFOR, they keep organizing CAP missions while AG missios are needed.
Last, but not least, the tactical op center was abandoned after the CIC saw 40' of total inactivity at the base " I could not stand those pilots snoring any more !! There's a war going on and all they can think about is playing pool and sleep!" said a furious ICEFOR Colonel.
more news later.
-.-

LOL I wish you could arm CAP flights with AG missiles as there seem to be a lot more of those than AG CAS missions. Cheers, Manteau

...Manteau I wish I could fly 2 hours out of 2 hours, instead of watching my monitor for 1.40" and flying actually for 20' -.-

-.- Ouch..never had that happen. Most I ever had to wait was 20 minutes or so. Thankfully even when the pilots are asleep, they'll be woken up for missions if needed.

Hmm..haven't seen the first one problem. As for the second problem, that is weird. Are you requesting permission to land at said base? Or are you just landing? I've landed at the base I was suppose to land at and landed at the nearest base when I was damaged, and in the latter case I never had my plane go across Iceland to my home base.

I spent just over two hours playing Typhoon Sunday Night, and I ended up flying two 25 minute CAS missions. Cheers, Manteau

Uroboros That was right after a CAP mission, I landed the plane, the pilot went to sleep, but later on you could see the same pilot in the tactical map wondering around, apparently following the same CAP route, still he wasn't visible in the "smart cam" views. For the taxiing problem I requested clearance, ATC gave it but I did not had the ILS path, I landed anyway in a small friendly AB, left the plane as usual just to discover later that it was taxiing back to the original AB. Weird but true. The only thing that pisses me off is that at one time I had 5 pilots asleep and one in the mess hall while red forces where advancing. I would really like to be able to plan and execute my own strategy, instead of blindly executing the AI one. If the point in EFT is the gameplay there's nothing worst than being unable to fly because the AI decided so. I only have 2 hours to fly every night (if I'm lucky) , yesterday I was staring at the monitor wondering " Hey May I play too? " I can accept the 6 pilots policy, but then what you are supposed to do when they all sleep? You can go to sleep too, ok. Infact that's what I did last night -.-

See, that's what I was talking about last week, when I said I was "watching endless briefings" when I wanted to be flying!
I like "real" briefings, when you see a map of the target area and can pick loadouts, etc. But these briefings, with the same scene of the characters standing in a room, in which no information is shared, is annoying, IMHO. I'd rather have a EAW briefing, in which I'm given a map, weather over target and other useful information.
I know they were trying to make it more of a "role-playing" deal but I can't buy it. I think I felt more involved in the well being of my pilots in F-15 or EAW than I do in Typhoon.
BUT... I have to say, whenever I criticize Typhoon, that I'm still blown away by the graphics and sound and I'm glad developers are still giving us new sims to comment about!
No sim is everything to everybody. That's why we keep numerous sims on our hard drives. For me, I fly Typhoon for a while, then fly F-15 or TAW. Get a little of everything.

I have a feeling that you thought you were landing at the base that gave you clearace; but weren't. It too late now of course. But after you request clearance (and get it); use the F2 key and you should padlock that airbase. You should see the ILS squares. I can think of another why you wouldn't see the squares.. If you select a weapon (by pressing RETURN or BACKSPACE) lose the ILS squares on the HUD. You'll have to go through the landing procedure again (at least step 2) Of course this doesn't excuse the plane taxing to it's own airbase over land; But it looks like you did something the game did not forsee. Guess Steve gave us all the benefit of the doubt that we'd know where to land.
