Hi all,

Well we seem to have a stable 3dfx version running now - just a few more things to iron out.

Patch should be up either Friday or early next week.

MadCowan and I will be flogging it for only £4.99 (Just Kidding)

Could do with a couple more testers though - bang up your e-mail if you want to try a 3meg .exe (Invasion will be disabled on this one - so you won't be able to play it properly)

Cheers,

Steve

I'll have a go with it, though I have sorted most of the problems with my Voodoo 4 by tweeking a few bits and bobs.....though it could do with a good kick up the ass!

Any chance that the throttle issue will be dealt with in this patch?
Thanks.

Steve,
I have a Voodoo 5500 and have no issues except for the multicolored lines in the HUD. I will be happy to test the patch to make sure it doesn't adversely affect V5 owners.

Do you know if the changes in the patch might clear up the multi-color HUD? Just curious/hopeful. Great darn game.

Hi,

Not looked at the throttle prob yet.
Not looked at the multi-coloured HUD yet either.

Tried to post an exe to the two hotmail accounts, but it just bounced back - too big (3 mgs)

hey ho,

Steve

Is there a way we can download it from somewhere? it is easier than usin &%$&*$ng hotmail! That is useless when you actualy want to e-mail work or something of a good size! I have lost course work due to Hotmail being unable to take a 1.5Mb file, when I get junk mail off my friends that are 1Mb! Shheeeesh F^%$%$ing microsoft!

Anyway, anyone with wierd coloured HUD, and Voodoo card, download drivers from http://www.x3dfx.com, they cured a lot on my card, but with cannon round visibility you need to turn off T&L, and hey presto!
Typhoon, dim problem
(Welsh incase you don't know)

Steve....your at the eurofighter2000 forum thingy at yahoo.groups? couldn't you put the file up in there for some testing?

Steve,
Is there any other way to contact you with my work email? I would rather not publish it.

Thanks,
Hatch

How big is the .exe filesize change Steve?

If it's under 5k, you could just use pcom (a small compiler used by crackers) to patch the .exe people have to the test version...

It just changes the bytes necessary.

That way, you'd just have to send out a 35 kb file max...

Cheers,
Manteau

I'd be happy to beta test the patch - anything so i can actually fly without it crashing.

I have a Voodoo3 3000.
Email address: ian.dykes@ntlworld.com

I don't think there are any size restrictions.

Ian

Yes. I had a go last night. Overall really stable although I did have a couple of crashes in about 3 hours play. My card is a Creative Banshee so my results are probably not indicative of what the average Voodoo3 user will see. This is what I saw:

1) Loading screens are missing and some weird flashing going on during loading (Beta thing?)

2) 1h 23m into a campaign in wartime it crashed. I was chasing a cruise missile. I padlocked it and zoomed the view in just as it exploded (I had shot it down) and the game froze. Would not CTL-ALT-DEL had to reset.

3) After the machine rebooted I started another campaign in wartime. Got to the cruise missile intercept phase again but got to close and sucked in some debris. Flew to friendly territory and ejected. Eject sequence was OK but when the pilot icon changed to 'Waiting for rescue' the game crashed with our old friend:

Fatal error in 3Dream
c:\cvsmil\3dream.win\hvmat\matmk.c(1265):
Fatal error:Failed to create material 'capshbkgd01_1'

4) Have you taken out the 'Getting into plane' bit? Doesn't seem to happen.

5) Cannot crash it by panning around the cockpit, changing MFD range or any of those errors that 3dfx people were having before. Only lockup in the cockpit I've had was 2).

6) (I suspect that this is because of my card's shiteness) The MFD's now clip properly with the excception of;
i)the range markers (i.e. the text that says '80nm'
ii)the active waypoint marker and the target waypoint marker - I get a big red triangle somewhere near the top of the HUD sometimes!

Other than that it's perfect It's great to actually get to play it for longer than 5 mins

Cheers

Have played some more.

The 'Getting into plane' bit is still there (see my post above)...and it still crashes my machine

Fatal error in 3Dream
c:\cvsmil\3dream.win\hvmats\matmk.c(1265): Fatal error: Failed to create material 'CPTbkgrd01_1'

Cheers

Concur - i get loading bar , but no typhoon pic , also the voodoo3 card seems to be holding textures / game screens from the last time it played , i got weird psychedilic banding too - this even occurred after rebooting the pc and starting game afresh too !

Fatal error in 3Dream
c:\cvsmil\3dream.win\

i got 2 of these type crashed - occured when the icon flashes showing the pilot sitting in open cockpit canopy , click on the icon to investigate , and crash !

5) Cannot crash it by panning around the cockpit, changing MFD range or any of those errors that 3dfx people were having before. Only lockup in the cockpit

Concur - it is mega stable now - played for an hour solid - and really tried to break it , zoomed mfds , did cockpit pans , fly pasts , externals , switched back and forth loads - took off in over the shoulder views -basically the cockpit panning bug is fixed !!

YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Other than that it's perfect It's great to actually get to play it for longer than 5 mins

CONCOUR 100% - WELL DONE on fixing 3dfx

Cheers

The problem you had with zooming is known about, and the simple solution to avoid it is not to zoom! I've only had it happen with Alternative Field of View switched on though...if you've got it on, try switching it off. (Small price to pay to be able to play the game on our archaic graphics cards.)

The problem with material crashes (CPTBackground etc.) I've been told has been fixed -- just not in the versions we have.

I know the zooming prob was known about but you've gotta try ain't ya. BTW was using normal FOV. Agreed about the archaic cards.
Excellent news about the material crashes.
