I would probably watch it if Ricky Gervais was hosting it.

The 97th Oscars ceremony will air live from Hollywood on Sunday, March 2nd, at 7 pm E.

Do they not give awards for best actress? Only best supporting actress?

They do, don't know why NFB skipped it... unless because one of them is a DUDE.

Best actress:
Cynthia Erivo, "Wicked"
Karla Sofia Gascón, "Emilia Pérez" <<<<<<<<<<< known as "Juan Carlos Gascon" for the first 46 years of his life
Mikey Madison, "Anora"
Demi Moore, "The Substance"
Fernanda Torres, "I'm Still Here"

Anora wins best picture? The movie about the sex worker that marries into the Russian Mafia?

I suspect someone got bought out considering the subject matter of the movie is the Russian Mafia

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28607951/awards/

I did not see Anora but I did see The Substance and what Ms. Demi Moore had to do on camera, she earned her Best Actress oscar.

I am very happy Flow won Best Animated Feature, beating out a Disney $200 million budget animated film.

It was also nominated for Best International Feature Film but it didn't win.

If you have not seen Flow, you must.

It starts playing in UK cinemas March 21st.

Flow was a pleasant surprise. I'm not usually into animated movies but that one deserved all the praise it got. Helps being a cat lover. cat

I meant Mrs Moore earned her Oscar nomination and should have won. Hard to type on a phone, I didn't complete the sentence.

Just watched I'm Still Here, Substance, and Complete Unknown; all were better than Anora.

The Oscars this year was a hot mess:

they left out many names in the Memoriam segment.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/m...g-snubbed-oscars-in-memoriam-1236152583/

Some might say Memoriam is for 2024 passing so Michelle Trachtenberg would be in next year's Academy Awards Memoriam.

But they did include Gene Hackman who passed in 2025, so the 2024 argument is moot.

Only a handful of movies are worth a 3 hour viewing...

The Godfather 1 and 2

Scarface

One of the various fan cuts of David Lynch's Dune

I haven't watched "Once Upon a Time in America" yet, so I am not sure about that one.

Not many others.

I always finish my popcorn after 1.5 hours, tops. What am I going to eat for the next two hours?

I must of included the pee breaks into it 😉

Related, think of films that are long but feel very short, I'd go with Saving Private Ryan.
