Looks like something may have happened to it before it crashed

Could just be its lights. The moisture in the air affects how the lights are seen. Just took off so would have had a good amount of lights on. Didn’t look like fire to me, but I could be wrong.

This is right next to the Roosevelt Mall

One local report had this bit

"The jet made three trips Monday in Mexico and Arizona; three trips Tuesday starting in Santa Ana California, then Phoenix Arizona and then Mexico; Wednesday it made two flights in Mexico and New Mexico. Thursday the plane took off in Albuquerque, New Mexico, arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida then traveled to Porta-au-Prince, Haiti, then returned to Miami, Florida. "

That seems a high tempo. Is it normal, if true?

That's 11 trips in 4 days .What are the laws re: how long can pilots fly, were they the same pilots, how much time an aircraft should be on the ground and inspected between each trip?

Do the airliners planes with airlines like Delta, American, Southwest etc etc just land, unload, clean the cabin of trash, refuel and load up and go again? Do they not perform any maintenance checks while on the ground like check the oil, coolant, fluids, body damage, etc?

Three legs a day isn’t all that much. Europe does have less strict flight time limitations than the US (don’t know what rules Mexico follows, though), but the most I’ve done in one day is six shorter legs of up to an hour each. The basic rule here is 13 hours on duty, then half an hour is subtracted with each landing starting with the third. Three medium-long legs in a day isn’t all that much, in isolation, although there is such a thing as accumulated fatigue and other factors we don’t yet know about.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Sudden change in C/G, Stall? Lost control surface? there was certainly no spin it was Ballistic, maybe a ruptured O2 tank? looks to be some kind of fire trailing. Sad part is it cratered so bad there may not be much left to investigate. What was the max altitude?

Some reading I've done indicates that runaway pitch trim motors is a known issue with Learjets.

Certainly looks more like catastrophic equipment failure than pilot error to me.

I agree. Some major mechanical failure. Something more than trim. Elevators.
