I played lots and lots of "street baseball" as a kid and I even tried out for my high school baseball team but my baseball "career" went down in flames big time after the try-out so that was the end of that! Just curious to see if anyone here played high school or college sports. I'm assuming we don't have any pro sports players here.

I did pretty well in skijumping in early years. I had some long jumps and broke a number of skies. I got a clear message from my parents after the last time I broke skies. They bought me downhill skies instaed. Oh well.

Reasonably good at high jump, long jump, and 100m & 200m races. Basically good at sudden high energy sports anything over 400m, forget about it. Also, you know that little trick where you overhang a beermat over a table edge, then slap the beermat's overhang with your upward knuckles, flip the mat & catch it all in one movement? Then add another beermat on top & keep going & see how many you can catch? (probably a bad description if you've no idea what I'm talking about ) I once did a pile of 32 beermats. 32. Was like my first time doing it too, like I was born to do it better than anyone else in the world. They say everyone has a skill in something. I just wish mine was more.... monetisable or even useful.

... They say everyone has a skill in something. I just wish mine was more.... monetisable or even useful. If you can do it consistently, that sounds like it could be "bar bet" income. And if they are sore losers, that 100m speed could come in handy!

Martial arts. Nothing beats a good fight. Doc doesn't want me getting any more hits to the chest, though, so I miss the actual sparring part. Don't care for the softer "competition" styles, as those are "point" based and they wear too much padding. Forget that. Full contact or gtfo.

. I just wish mine was more.... monetisable or even useful. That's exactly why I switched to a career in IT after I got my degree in Anthropology.

I did sprinting for the track team in high school, and much like DM I was not good at longer distances, but I wouldn't say that I excelled at sprinting, either. I liked volleyball a lot, and might have been able to get good at it, but never really tried and just did it for fun.

Hockey, I played at the AAA level but quit after moving to another city because it I would have had to deal with ridiculous practice times, like 4:30AM and 8PM on the same day, and because it would have been a hassle just getting to the arenas because of the distances involved.
I lost touch with my teammates and don't think if any of them ever went pro, but a few might have moved on the world juniors and farm team level.

Would need a rocket in my jeans to get a few millimeters off the ground these days but I was my High School's best in the Long Jump and Triple jump events. Didn't stay in College long enough to join any of their sports teams.

My skill was dodging sports of any kind, although I did enjoy cricket to some extent. And no, I did not excel in any way.

Excel? No, but in my late 30's I did get into running a couple of miles or so most days for a while.

No, but my son reached county standard for basketball and my daughter county level for swimming. For different reasons both decided not to pursue their sports at county level. My wife reached county level at hockey, but discovered boys.
