Small experimental RV12 (experimental doesn’t mean what you think. RVs are widely flown) crashed at the airfield just north of mine. If you go to flightaware.com and enter N702DP you can see the flight track. Took off out of Cedar Key for a sunset flight. Flew south down to Tampa Bay the north along Hwy 19. Looks like he got lost or something just 2 or 3 miles south of the Crystal River airport. Lot of circling and reversals with varying speed. Then straightened out straight in direction of the field but crashed. I can’t even begin to figure out why. It was dark by then but the airport is right by Hwy 19 so it it easy to find. Wasn’t a crash because of maneuvering stall. Speed changes indicate still had engine power.

You can use two fingers to zoom in and out and use the play button to watch the flight.
I’m at a loss.
Sadly pilot died in crash.
