I remember playing some of it on a friend XBox maybe 2012 and she either kept getting lost and hitting dead ends or she wouldn't stay alive and the movement gave me a headache

I think the gist of the "outrage" here is that somehow they are re-educating gamers through these attempts at cultural apologies over glorifying stealing artifacts guarded by insane booby-traps in some Peruvian jungle somewhere, by a 30's era Anthropology nerd. And that these depictions are really really bad and you should be ashamed. So now it will be about saving these Artifacts from being lost forever because, you know.. Evil Man-made Climate Change.
But that's a lot to read into such a vague announcement
