I thought there was a B-17 or similar named forum here but I didn't see it. Anyway, for those of you who remember it Microprose are re-releasing their B-17 game.

TBH it looks pretty much the same as I remember it, not much new to get excited about aside from gun positions being more detailed & mouse-friendly. I have it on my Steam wishlist as well as the VR version The Mighty Eighth VR and and the B-17 Flying Fortress The Bloody 100th.
If it's a reasonable price I'll probably pick it up to support the company's further developments, otherwise I'll pass it by I guess.

I find it odd that they added VR but didn't update the graphics engine. I'll check out the Youtube link but I'm pretty sure I'll be passing on this one.

The Mighty Eighth VR will be a separate product from this one, this one is basically a re-release, not much in the way of updating. I don't know what improvements the VR release will be displaying.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I just watched a few minutes of the video you posted and I'm pretty sure I'll pass on this.

If you like old, old flight sims look up "Bomber 3". I just got a notice that it's available on Steam

I have Bomber 3 on my wish list, along with the other 2 B-17 games. I don't recognise Bomber 3 from the screenshots, they look very grainy. I thought it was based on the original DOS version by Microprose so I was wrong on that.
I might pick up B-17 Flying Fortress The Bloody 100th (assuming it gets a release date) but the other 2 I can leave. I'm not so much into nostalgia sims any more.

. I'm not so much into nostalgia sims any more. I'm really not very picky when it comes to graphics but in 2024 playing something that looks like it came out in 1995 is just too much of a stretch for me.

I wonder if this Redux version will fix the hilarious goof on the scrolling map of Europe at the navigator station? Instead of "Chemnitz" the map has the post war name of "Karl Marx Stadt".

Two things I did not like about the original B17II were the cockpit view in the B17 (you either had the very limited out-of-the-window view or the instrument panel) and the AI copilot interfering with my inputs. In the end I spent most of my time in the navigator and bombardier stations. I don't suppose there are any changes to this in the new version? Other than that, I had good times with this game.
Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?
