That totally reminds me of a Star Trek game I saw some kids playing on Sparc workstations in the early 90s while in college.

Could have easily been Star Fleet I (1984), or II (1989). What I mean Is they were from the same era.

It was definitely a Solaris/UNIX specific Star Trek game, with multiplayer in mind, as kids were flying around the galaxy blasting each other.
