One benefit of the slotless aircraft system in EAW 1.4 onward, was that the removal of the previous obstruction to expansion of the number of .3dz files which could be used in an aircraft model. From 1.4 complex plane models could be built from 12 conjoined wire frame .3dz files.
Here are some recent models improved by Ray Otton in 1.6 showing what can be done with all the add-on 3dz's now available and a little attention to detail: CantZ 1007 before / after -
Where the heck have you seen that a SM 79 had a dorsal turret ? It was nicknamed "il gobbo maldito" - The hunchback because of its characteristic dorsal shape which is not to be seen in the new model.
I'm sorry : rounding engine shape is one thing, but respecting the general blueprint is another.
I'll stay with Captain Kurt initial model for immersion.
That said, it's impressive 3DZ modelling skill that is shown there !
