I only played the Taiwan campaign so far on 1.15.4 with everything install including the eech-CC_0.3.
I found 1.15 a few years ago but being busy, I didn't play much.
Before that I think I was playing version 1.4 sparingly?
I came across this game a month ago while cleaning out boxes that we threw in the closet and garage after a move a year ago.
I pretty much forgotten I had this game.
I have some observations:
those carrier based choppers: Viper, Super Cobra, Sea Cobra or whatever they are called, they only do recon and escort and transfer.
Same as when they transfer to FARP or Airbase and there are CAS and BAI and CAP and SEAD nearby, they don't take them.
They idle at those bases until there is recon or an escort mission or until they are transferred again.
They carry air to ground missiles and air to air missiles.
Why they can't take any CAS and BAI and CAP and SEAD?
I have seen the Kiowa do CAS and BAI and SEAD.
The Kiowa, smaller than those choppers and with less electronic gadgets.
Even seen Kiowa shooting down choppers and jets.
HECK!
Even a Blackhawk does CAS and BAI and SEAD.
Wish list:
the carriers.
If ground units can advance and retreat as needed and choppers and jets can advance and retreat as needed,
why can't the carriers?
If the campaign is on the losing edge, they should retreat and if the campaign is turning into a win with air and ground forces seizing enemy bases and advancing,
the carriers should advance.
They pretty much sit there until they are attacked over and over and the carrier is sunk.
Also the Harriers.
Why can't they land on carriers?
Another item on the wishlist:
I wish there was a way to load games or start a new game during game play without exiting all the way to the main menu screen.
Bugs:
If you take over a failed escort mission and you want to add a WP for those choppers to go attack something nearby, the game will crash sometimes.
Sometimes it doesn't crash, it will let you add a WP but if you are cycling through the WP and you hit the X one, the game will crash.
If I find anything else while I continue to play this game in the upcoming weeks and play the other maps and campaign, I will add to it.
1. I am Blue, captured Fulcrum and Frogfoot and Hip and Hook when I captured their airbase.
They started running CAP and CAS and Supply and Repair missions for Blue.
Their base was recaptured while they are still on those missions.
They get stuck in limbo with no base to land.
Saw Hips on a supply mission flying in circle over one my factories.
They been there for 7 hours.
Fulcrums flying in a small circle, almost pivoting on their tails, for 6 hours, over the airfield they took off from that is now Red's again.
2. One of my Viper stuck over an enemy airfield attacking a Cub transport.
the transport is on the ground, upside down, front into the ground.
I think it crashed or was shot down.
The Viper is hovering next to the Cub, almost touching the plane's fuselage, stuck in attacking mode and constantly calling out seeking firing position.
I had to take over, fly it to X and fly it back to base.
Yet it still tells me target outside of seeker constraints.
You have to dip the nose down almost in a semi dive and keep it there the entire time for the duration of the flight of the VIKHR.
Also according to WIKI, they are fire and forget missiles.
In the game you can only fire one at a time and you need to keep it locked on the target with a clear LOS at all time.

Why is it so hard to hit anything in the MI-28? Using VIKHR.
Yet it still tells me target outside of seeker constraints.
Is it really about Mi-28? as it has Ataka instead of Vikhr. If it's Havoc - I'm afraid it's not a bug but actual limitation of this aircraft - missile's optics is too narrow so you should point nose right on the target. It's a bit different for Ka-50 - it has moving racks that adjusted by computer up and down, depending on target vertical position. I still have plans to adjust such things with difficulty level value, but can't say when it may appear in the game as early stuff still unfinished.
Both Vikhr and Ataka are not fire and forget, BUT - you can launch several missiles with interval like 5 seconds each (I hope so, at least it was possible years ago), and change target quickly right after missle hit target - other missiles in the air will change guidance to that target instead.
I would like to see the sam,s and artillery moving when they are under fire, something like infatry mod, that give it much more realistic than statics. Thanks.
My observation is this: EECH topic became a very lonely place.
Such a shame because there is still so much that could be done to this sim. All of the components of modder's true paradise are here: source code, a pretty good foundation in what was already moded, interesting and great depth helicopter combat simulation with dynamic campaign and good helo flight model, avionics, and great feel when in the air.
All it would take is a few dedicated folks who would want to push the envelope further and make it better. Unfortunately, this is what is currently absent...Why?
This game is new to me. I still have not finish any campaign and there are so many of them.
I gave up a year ago and just started over the weekend. I can play for hours.
Most of the time is spent flying from your base to your mission and flying back.
Tonight, This is weird.
I just took off on a CAP and there is a Comanche just there in front of me. If I open the cockpit and reach out with my arm, I can touch it.
I fired a AA missile at it and it just flew around it, didn't even hit it.
Whatever the Comanche was doing, it didn't react at me firing the missile at it.
I switched to gun and fired a few burst at it and it didn't destroy it.
So I flew off toward my first waypoint, that's when the Comanche reacted and my radar warning alarm came on and before I could evade, a hellfire shot me down.
In answer to your question of why there are no modders here now, the simple answer is they were forced away by the negative attitudes of some people on the forum who became quite abusive.
As I said at the time, modders are people who give up their time and experience FREE to improve the game and should be appreciated. It got to a point where they said "stuff it" and left.
I'm sad to see this situation, not least of all because I have built a sim cockpit based on this game, but also because it's a great game with a lot of potential. There is nothing like it out there currently.
I agree that toxic attitudes and comments are sure ways to squash any initiative or enthusiasm by good folks to improve those old games. Eternal shame on those who perpetrate those ugly deeds. One only wonders where are they now and why they do not try to carry on this task. Of course, we know the answer to that.
I fly a Comanche almost 1 hour to get to target. SEAD at enemy airbase. Barely made it out of there without any damage: the airbase is protected by dozens of AA. Use up all 8 Hellfire. Then fly almost 1 hour to return to the airbase only to be shot down by a MIG doing a sweep over the airbase while I was circling around waiting for my landing turn. My fault. Did not pay attention and had radar off.
Sorry to hear about things turning sour. It's been happening far too often in far too many mod communities (let alone non-modding communities). I've been away from sims for over a decade and with gaming in general I had an 8-9 year gap.
I was coming back to get my old games' mods updated at least as eventually everything disappears (how many times have we seen fellow gamers hosing files and/or forums that have passed away and their sites disappear with them?).
