Has anyone here ever tried these? I'm a carnivore through and through so I'll never change that but out of curiosity I tried a plant-based burger a couple days ago. I immediately noticed two problems:
1. The "burger" was salty as heck.
2. The texture was just all wrong. The best way I can describe it is that the "burger" was not juicy at all. It was rather dry and flavorless.

I eat them, although I'm not vegetarian. I find these products hit or miss. Some are just gross, but I've found a few burgers that look, and at least have the texture of a proper burger. It needs a few 'add-ons' though to spice the flavour up a bit.
I have not tried it, but I get what you mean, I've had other "meat-esque" dishes and the outcome is not ever satisfactory.
I think part of the problem is that you're trying to replicate one established food with another type of food, to imitate it. Why not just make great vegetarian dishes that are tasty, nutritious and achievable in their own right, rather than to replicate something that is already massively established.
It's kind of like saying that yeah, meat is great, here is our unsatisfactory version of it. Making a meatless burger is fundamentally flawed IMO where it might work is for people who are already committed to a vegetarian lifestyle, but miss the burger so deeply they will take a lesser version of it. I suggest that, as a lifelong omnivore (as I am), to you a meatless burger will always be unsatisfactory.

Cows are vegetarian, therefore meat is vegetarian...There, problem solved. As a cook in many restaurants I had opportunity to try a lot of Demo products, Black Bean burgers were not too bad but if you want something that tastes like meat go for a Grilled Portobello with roasted red pepper and provolone, that tastes more like meat than the other products.

FWIW: My Wife and I eat several "Morning Star Farms" brand "Spicy Black Bean" burgers every week. At "quick meal" times. "Burgers+heated-buns" takes roughly 5 minutes from freezer to mouth.
Don't taste like meat at all. But, we very much like the taste, low calories, and nutrition aspects. Easy/quick microwave "heat and eat".
We serve using special whole wheat pita "buns" -- for taste, low calories, & nutrition aspects.
In many dishes, if chicken is replaced by the fungus derived 'Quorn' which we have here, then I'd probably not notice. The chicken is not supplying the main flavour for these dishes though.
Vegetable and Cheese based patties are wonderful in their own right, but for a Hamburger, it needs to be beef.
I've only tried one, from the cafe at my office, which is probably not the best place to get one from, and it was...not great. It didn't taste remotely like meat, and had a weird texture. I might try one from a different place, but I'm in no hurry to do so.

If I want vegetables, I will buy veggies. If I want a burger, it will be 100% beef. There are of course alternatives - chicken, turkey, salmon, or better yet crab cakes (yum yum).
Frankly, I would much rather put a mushroom on a bun with cheese and ketchup, then eat a lab grown fake beef product.
There is a large selection of meatless patties available in my area, and I've tried a fair number.
Some are excellent, to the point where I'd choose them over all but the highest grade meat, while some are North Korean prison chow hall tier.
The one I had is the "Beyond Meat" brand which is a major brand and supposedly has a good rep.
Nope, not for me.

There's a place near me that does a nut patty burger that's pretty decent. I never actually go there for that, I go because they have the best fruit smoothies I've ever tasted but sometimes I'll hit that nutburger while I'm there. It's still better than fast food burgers, and obviously far healthier, but it's not as "beefy"...
