Just want to make sure that I have latest for UE. I cannot find anything on line about UE patches. I know BH&H is the latest and greatest but I don't have a good enough rig for it yet. Thank you for any assistance.

4.24 is the last patch for WoFF UE, while 5.04 is the last patch for the WoFF PE addon. If interested in running SweetFX with WoFF, recommended is not to upgrade (in the UE series) beyond patch 4.18. Patch 4.21 (or 4.22) and later require ReShade instead, if you wish to tweak the stock color palette and whatnot. In my experience, the BH&H2 generation behaves wonderfully with ReShade - the PE-addon era was best left stock (difficult to shoehorn ReShade into it), and the UE era, up to 4.18, works great with SweetFX. By the way, BH&H2 may be less resource-intensive than WoFF UE/PE -- did some comparative tests with BH&H2, a while back, in consultation with OrbyxP (hello Orbyx), and it seems that that is the case. Therefore, it is likely that your rig. will be able to run BH&H2 quite well, especially if you stick with light or medium air activity settings. Cheers & happy flying (at any congestion setting and whether with ReShade profile or not),

So this is something you obviously use with BH&H that doesn't affect performance? And, if I may continue to pick your brain, what would you say are the biggest improvements in BH&H over UE? I thank you for your advise.

Hi Sortofred, Yes, I ReShade my flight sims regularly (WoFF, FE2, and RoF) - for crisper graphics, more light, and better spotting of enemies. For FE2 and RoF, ReShade profiles are included in my big realism/FM pack for FE2, and in my AI mod packages for RoF (respectively) -- see relevant links located under each of my posts on SimHQ. For my WoFF ReShade profile - see the following post. I've tried to come up with a performance-friendly ReShade profile (since otherwise ReShade does take a bite out of FPS, compared to stock WoFF). To improve FPS even further with ReShade loaded, I recommend turning off the options for "FXAA" and "LumaSharpen," but feel free to continue running "Vibrance," "DPX," "Smart_Sharp," and "Clarity" (there are of course more instructions included in my ReShade profile download for WoFF/WoTR). Also, if you have performance problems with the latest version of ReShade (that is somewhere in the 5.x.x range), recommended is to install the older ver. 4.9.1 (I run 4.9.1 and haven't bothered to upgrade). Possible links for the older version may be found here. (See this post under my WoFF "casual campaigns" thread for representative pics. with my ReShade profile enabled in BH&H2 -- take note however that I have loaded some terrain and tree mods. in those pics too -- but tthe pics. nonetheless illustrate well the crispness possible with a tweaked ReShade profile loaded.) In terms of BH&H2, compared with the WoFF-UE era -- several improvements are included in the newer version, ranging from better (stock) management of FPS/performance, improved terrains and trees, more cloud variety, goggles effects implemented, also better rain and raindrop effects, animated pilot figures who turn their heads left/right/up/down (pleasantly reminiscent of FE2), etc. I like all of the recent versions of WoFF (from UE onwards), but BH&H2 is the most refined and well-baked offering (compared to UE and the PE addon). No matter what recent version of WoFF you choose,
Prepare for short campaigns and frequently to lose,
For the AI is stellar and continues to improve,
With an even rmore subtle and complex fighting regime,
To the novice, an airman's nightmare,
And to the seasoned flyer, an aerial dream.
Cheers to you,

Hello,
I'm trying to install ReShade_Setup_4.9.1.exe in BH&H II latest patch. The installer asks me to select API version of the game, is it Direct3D9? Then it asks which effect packages to install? I'm going to use VonS's profile.
Thanks.

@Dirk, Yes, choose "Direct3D9" for the API option. Necessary effects files/options to install with ReShade are listed in the "Read Me" document that's located in my WoFF/WoTR shaders package - that is available at the bottom of this post. Also in the package you will find a pic that illustrates which shader options to activate once ReShade is installed. Feel free *not* to select FXAA and LumaSharpen in order to improve FPS by about 5-6 frames, although I think the ave. FPS are acceptable with all six shaders/filters selected that are outlined in that pic. The entire purpose of those filters is/was to improve color and crispness in WoFF/WoTR for better spotting, etc., but at the same time to minimize possible FPS hits (since un-tweaked ReShade is usually noticeably worse with FPS than the venerable SweetFX was). Cheers to you,

With my current PC and some adjustments to core management, I haven't seen any FPS drops in WOFF yet. The only thing I couldn't achieve without mods was proper lighting and clarity in the game so I'll definitely try those as well.
Thank you so much for all you do, VonS. .

With Reshade and your preset (FXAA and LumaSharpen ticked On), the game now looks fantastic, VonS. Solid 60 FPS ( locked to my 4K screen refresh).
I highly recommend everyone to try it, you have to see it for yourself.
Thanks again.
