I have started a new Let's Play series on YouTube. Due to the embedding issues and other concerns, I will be maintaining it on the other forum, but I did want to mention it over here in case you don't look at the other forum all that much!
I'm using the little front middle finger rocker switch on the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle. In the workshop, I have the zoom button repeat set to level 2. It's still not quite as granular as I would like, but it works well enough...
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
Another one in the bag. This a good time to remind everyone to check all of your keybinds before you take off! (Please note that I will not remember this advice...)
Number 8 is down! (Or up...) Interestingly, the most viewed one is the first, where nothing happens...
Rick could be it needs switching to a newer one with action? Perhaps maybe guys watch it, see no action and so don't watch the next
Maybe? I'm not sure how to do that? I think if I get more likes on the later ones, those would be more visible? Despite being on YouTube for ever, I still don't know how it works...
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
I love these so much! I also like how your Trackir works in the vids would you be willing to share your current head tracking config file? mine is really jerky at the moment even with setting the affinity to one core and the game to the others.
Ah, so you meet Wolfgang the sniper gunner again eh?... Your new nickname is now ''Cockroach''... because no matter how many times you think you have killed them, they keep coming back!
Wavy line guy was Erich Lowenhardt of Jasta 10, Pour le Merite holder, Staffelfuhrer Jasta 10 after April 18. Killed when his parachute failed to open 10 August after collision with a Jasta 11 newbie, 54 aerial victories.
This is the guy that put you on the ground. FAA 240 DFW.
Yeah, the two seater pilots are a bit over aggressive these days. There's no reason they should be entirely passive, I just don't think they should turn around and want to fight when they have a perfect chance to get away home. Not their mission.
Yes, I think they switched the flight model for Recce craft a while back. Fly against some Quirks in QC and it can become ridiculous quite quickly! Maybe not FC Fee ridiculous, but still...

When you were looking at the aircraft assignments in the start screen, you mentioned that you didn.t know if there was anything that would prevent you from changing aircraft type. When all of that type were in use and there were no reserves, and this was only when everyone who has this type outrank me or are aces, I AM assigned that aircraft type but when I try to go on a mission I am told that I have no aircraft to fly. This is because I have an aircraft assigned to me which is not available at that time, I have to wait until a new one comes in. Same goes for any wingman pilots who have this aircraft assignment or you change their assignment to this limited number aircraft. If you want to fly you have to go back to your old type.
Didn't know about the opposite rudder thing when spiraling down to slow the aircraft. Handy trick. I use the rudder, back and forth, to slow me down when coming in too fast on a landing.but this never occurred to me.

One of the things I like about your vids is that they're human and live. You let everyone see your mistakes and admit you're not the prefect pilot, especially in the area of formation flying.
Your claim probably will be rejected, those were DVs. You really should get a cockpit camera from the Flying School. So what if it weighs down the kite!
The first bunch you tangled with was the Blue Noses of Jasta 36 and the one with the red band was Walter von Bülow-Bothkamp.
The 2nd batch of Albatri were the Squadron Default for Jasta 27. Must have been the B team, I didn't see Herr Meyer with them.
I think with a dead stick EA they would have probably forced him to land if they had time. Especially if it looked like he might be able to glide over the lines or into no-man's-land.

That's for sure! I even have a card addressing just that topic!

I also never go back and review the tape before making my claim! While that is a good point, I am not sure that getting the plane type wrong is all that important in claims. I know I have definitely gotten credit for putting down 2-seater type as I can never remember which one is which. Interestingly, it seems that many of the claims reports I have read often do not identify the specific type of aircraft.

You, as always, are on point!

I have read this as well!

GOOD SHOW RAGGIE! And you came out without a scratch.
Surprised me to see you get credit for that last Alb. It was definitely a DV but I guess they cut you some slack. Same with these last 3, definitely DVs but the powers still credited you with a DIII downed. Archie probably claimed your other two, all politics!
I quick way to identify the DV and DIIIOAW is that they will have the purple and green on the upper wing surfaces, while that was not being used on the DIII or DIII early, in WOFF anyway.
Your first customer was Carl Menckhoff, at that time in Jasta 3, in the purple Alb. This is the original WOFF skin, he actually had a red M and red nose band, rather than black, according to the god Bruno Schmäling (Blessed be His name) and Menckhoff's Reminiscenses. Black was very hard to see on a surface like that purpleish color and they wanted these markings to be visible.
Red nose was one of the Baron's boys, the Squadron Default for Jasta 11.
The last, nondescript DV is the Squadron Default for Jasta 3, So it was those two Staffels you were up against.
According to the notes I took some time ago, and some of it may have changed, the aircraft assignments get adjusted from time to time in the updates, Jasta 11 started using the DV mid-June 17 and Jasta 3 was given them in WOFF starting about 2 August.
Took some screenies of Menckhoff's head going down, that's always exciting to see.
Took a few days for me to get to looking at this one. Some good fights and good shooting on Phil's part. Jasta 6 are some of Richthofen's people.
13 Sep 1917 was fortunately a Thursday.
You said something about how when there are a lot of friendlies and only a few Huns that there are multiple claims being put in. I don't know how hard that would be for the Devs, since I know practically nothing about programing anything, I operate a computer like a trained seal makes a set of horns play a tune, but there really should be a partial claim option for the Entente pilots of all three, and future 4 nations represented.
Your three Raggies you landed with were #5 - Kink Kindead; #7 Bregeut Dallas; and #9 Stanly Rosevear.
That was the best explanation of how the claims might work that I've heard so far. That makes sense. Probably if your witness is actually in the area at the time and you get the type right you're probably home free except for maybe a random factor like a dice roll in a board or miniatures war game like we all used to play, back in the day. (used to play; back in the day, I'M A POET!)

I can't claim that one. It's been discussed for a while in various threads. I feel like Louvert and Robert Wiggins were probably in the discussion as well as others and Pol was all like "I can neither confirm nor deny..." I would bet that where the plane goes down relative to your side of the lines probably influences it too.

Yeah, I think claims that couldn't be verified were just not mentioned or only in passing. It was frowned on I know in German Staffels to brag about unverifiable kills. And in the American service, Frank Luke, who was already unpopular was shunned for running his mouth about things no one saw but himself, though much of it may have been true.
I've wondered about those bullet strikes too. You're flying along, as you said, a mile up and suddenly get bullet strikes from a forward headquarters of trench down there. I think maybe it's a glitch. Though I suppose it could represent shrapnel hits if there's Archie going.
Your two Alb DIII OAWs you couldn't claim without looking like you were full of it were from Jasta 37, when Udet was flying with them.

I'm suspicious that it is a glitch as well, since it never seems to damage me.
I'm curious as to whether anyone ever said "I ran into some Albatross scouts and fired at a few that seemed to go down, but I am not officially claiming them as there were no witnesses, but I just wanted to make a complete report." I haven't read a ton or raw mission reports, mostly some from McCudden's book, if I remember...

In one of the stories I was reading in Double Decker C 666, the observer mentioned in his report that they had an air fight, I guess he was explaining the holes in his machine. They had, in fact, shot down a Nieuport about 20 klicks behind French lines on a Recon.
That's the sort of 'in passing' I was taking about, not, "Oh, by the way Old Fruit, I torched three Huns on the way back over the lines for tea."
Too bad about Phil. Herr Meyere's boys got in some pretty dernd lucky shots if ya asks me. Too Lucky!
Some fiendish new Hun weapon, no doubt.
Very interesting about the Mission Review. I looked at that when it was first added but it didn't really look very interesting to me so I didn't try to figure out how to use it. I'll check it out in a future mission or two.
Congradulations to Reinhardt on his first Luftsieg and the Ehrenbecher! And on his first Frontflug too! A toast to him!
For your next Partrolenflug - HALS UND BEINBRUCH!”
*Halali - from the French Hallali – it is a hunter’s cry or horn signal at the end of a hunt. Jagd aus - Hunt over!
I gotta say, these aggressive REs and DFWs are getting to be a real pain in the @$$. I'm always having the same experience Reinhardt had, looking back to see an RE coming down from the heights with blood in his eyes, doing a loop as he comes in behind me at a million miles an hour.
I read a story the other day about Hans Bethge having a fight with an RE that wanted to play fighter. He did a loop to fire at Otto Fuch who was above him. AND GUESS WHAT?
His observer fell out and was still holding his Lewis as he "disappeared into the depths." Then the idiot still wanted to fight so Bethge put him down.
OK guys, all being well, we will release a patch soon that will greatly reduced the aggressiveness of some 2 Seaters that have front guns, in combat situations: namely D.H.4, Strutter A2, Rumpler C.IV, D.F.W, Hannover C.III, Breguet 14, R.E.8. Others that did act more aggressively historically, will still do so, such as Bristol Fighter F2B, Roland C.II and F.E.2b. They will attack or defend (F.E.2b so it can bring to bear the front observer gun preferred to the ineffective rear gun).
Press your thunbs for Reinhardt and his two claims. (they press their thumbs into the palm of their palms and close the other fingers around them instead of crossing their fingers for luck)
Didn't think he was going to get out of that one, too many Englandern about. Good vid.
You can't check your tail in VR? How does that work?

Since it's a 1:1 relationship with your head position, It's hard to look directly behind you without swiveling your chair; or at least it is with my set which has a fairly narrow FoV.

Thanks, Becker01! I've used it before and it does help but I've been trying to do this Let's Play series mod-free so that people get a good idea what the base game is like...and maybe it will inspire the Devs to do something official about it!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
He should have a Spitzname now....Reinhart 'Berserker' Reinhold, after that stunt.
I don't know if he should get a medal or a Courts Martial and I think the Nieuport shot at him because he thought he was rabid and should be put down. Certainly he caught the Jagdfeber.
And...he made the mistake of showing up Hermann. That won't go over well.
What trick did you have to use to finally get the skin to appear in Campaign?
I'm not sure, I just keep quitting the game and changing the file name slightly and reloading and eventually it picks it up. Once the game has it, I never have a problem after that...

Oh...yeah...that's gone. I think that's something Pol worked out with them what runs this thing, whatever they're called. Maybe he can get it back at some point.
Looking at the list of forums and the stuff I see on the "Who's on Line" it looks like there are more people interested in politics than anything else, didn't even know that was part of the formums
The old DiD stories and REPORTS FROM THE FRONT, get a lot of views too..
There is a "style" named WOFF fixed, that RacerGT did not enable when he updated the forum software. I do not know if he had a particular reason for that. Once I saw it in the Control Panel, I decided I would experiment with enabling it, once things had settled down for awhile after the update. It is now enabled, so feel free to select it and give it a go. If it turns out to be problematic, and something I don't find a fix for, it will be disabled again.
You can select it in the Style pull down menu at the bottom of the screen:
or you can select it in your preferences settings.
I spend more time watching your video than I do playing the game. You are just great, thank you so much for keeping this game so interesting.
No problem! I hope you are at least learning what not to do from me! Like taking on five recon planes by yourself while the rest of your flight wisely goes home!
