How many of you are still playing this sim regularly or at least once in a while? I'm playing it about twice per week but I've found myself gravitating more and more towards the multiplayer cooperative side over the single player side.

While the planes and maps are excellent and well modelled, I'm finding the pilot careers to still be lacking in the immersion department. It' hard to place my finger on it exactly but often times the missions in the pilot careers seem rather lifeless. At least with the MP cooperative play you have the interaction of other human players so that alone adds a lot to the immersion.

I still fire her up quite frequently - but it's been the quick missions for me and not the campaign, or a lot of "free flight" stuff just to learn to fight and fly with the newer aircraft.

Normally I play it a few hours a week but lately I've been all DCS.

Interestingly enough, the same thing has happened to me with DCS. I'd say about 80% of my time in DCS in MP coop.

Ive put it back on the shelf for a while due to the AI.

The models ,pits, immersion is great but ive seen the ai do so many stupid things that it just started getting tiresome.

Right now im tearing around in DCS mustang in new normandy 2 map with liberation and loving it.

I play DCS solo, IL2 coop. Don't play much during summer, but had great coops this winter and spring.

This seems to be a pretty common thing with gamers in Europe. Is it because it's just simply too hot to game inside the house because there's no air conditioning or is it for some other reason?

Both are correct, we europeans are vacationning at various periods during July/August (mostly august), and air conditionning is not in every house. Also, when one isn't in vacations but lives in an interesting vacationning place, one has many friends and relatives eager to visit at this time of the year :P

Oh in my case I have plenty of vacation time. I just don't take it very often because I don't want to spend the money on travel!

The virtual fighter group I fly with has a 2 to 3 hour MP dogfight session every Friday and Sunday. Guest Pilots are welcome if you are so inclined.
Our sessions typically have 8 regular while there can be up to 14 participants.

While we do on occasion fly against other groups for the most part we fly as a group against AI opponents. Heck the first 30 minutes of every session we typically fly on a Sandbox map where different AI opponents are triggered.
If you have any interest the server with the Sandbox map is on 24/7 so just the two of us could jump on and fly around so you get a feel for what it is we do.

Oh ok, that does sound good indeed. Since you said dogfight server I just assumed it was head to head. Thanks again!
