@Fenin - glad you got it up and running - it allows you to tweak so much if you choose. I just love how you can make adjustments and immediately see them in real time as you go with reshade. A real boon! WOFF already has very nice shaders to begin with (but it so wonderful to be able to enhance them!) - but take it to something like IL-2 1946 (which doesn't have very good shaders at all relatively) - and then throw in reshade - and BOOM. Great stuff.

@OVS @Pol - thank you very much! smile OVS - your skins are already amazing and that one is a real beaut! I have been trying to aim for as natural and realistic lighting and color as I can get (though that is subjective). Glad you like the shot, and again wonderful job on the skins! And what a beautiful sim this truly is - really atmospheric and simply sublime! Thanks for that Mark (and Mark). smile

@Adger - thanks for steering me to reshade to begin with and help me get it started! S! I used your starting settings but tweaked them a bit to my taste, but also added ambient light and some gentle HDR and whatnot. Love your shots - very clean, mood envoking - and they look great!

Yeah, it sure does make a difference Redwolf, thank you! I've been messing with it more, as I suspect that's fairly common for people who get stuff like that up and running. Just gotta tweak it... and tweak it... and tweak it...

Was taking aim for a very bright, very saturated, sort of cartoonish look. Sort of like Borderlands, an almost cell shaded kind of feel to it. I don't think I got it, but I did get this and I'm MUCH happier with it. Buildings pop out visually in the woods, with really thick outlines. Aircraft pop a lot too, and it makes the warm times of year feel even warmer. I had to look about in winter too, of course.

I'm very much of the mind that realism is overrated when it comes to visuals. There will always be a difference, and while I do heavily appreciate trying to achieve a realistic look from my experience and to my eyes a more stylized look tends to age better. Even taking something like DCS which I can run in 4k at 100+ fps, it can be beautiful but will it still be in 5 years? The new Microsoft flight sims trailer is gorgeous in comparison, almost as if it was pre-rendered and not in game footage. Just the other day (12 years ago!) I remember thinking that TES IV: Oblivion looked better than real life.

Cheers Redwolf and great shots as always by all..A few here the 1st and 3rd pics are stock WOFF Colours and the 2nd and 4th 5th and 6th ones are Reshade. All taken at 1440p and showing some of the brilliant Jasta skins (Thanks OVS and others)..Dont forget the free skin pack download from the main downloads page lads and also theres some on the Mod page on this site. Great thing about Reshade is..its so easy to tinker and mess around with it unti your happy with your settings do be warned though..Some settings can eat into your FPS.

I recommend downloading every skin possible,it adds so much immersion to the Sim. Also..Thanks OBD the colouring in Stock WOFF is supurb i just personnally use Reshade in 90% of my games.

@Fenin - that's an interesting take! - very bold and Borderlands'ish, cool. smile
@adger -Yes, the skins that are available are amazing! Definately everyone should download that skins pack on OBD's site! Great pics of a motley crew! smile

Back to British...boring(?), but still beautiful, lol. Thought I would also include a pic of a plane I do quite enjoy as well (second pic), "Don't hate me 'cause I'm different!" LOL
(I suppose I should look up the key to remove the fps display and whatnot eventually). seehearspeak

Cheers All.

It's Z, brother, to turn off that fps and whatnot info up in the top left.

Beautiful DH.5 too, that aircraft is so novel. I love the picture of it on the main menu with the pilot looking to his right. He looks so unabashedly upsetti spaghetti to be piloting it.

Great shots gents', will upload new screenies in the future with a different skin on the OAW Alby, as suggested by OvStachel (for some reason can't upload any pics today, the Attachment Manager is incorrectly telling me that my pics are larger than 1 MB, oh well).

Happy flying all,
Von S smile2

Very nice pics by all of you! Those Jasta 5 shots look very life-like with the Reshae applied.

Is there a chance you could do a write-up on how to get it working with WOFFUE, and the tweaks you used to get it looking so realistic?

You guys really make this sim look amazing!

Thanks!

OvS

Reshade was pretty easy for me to get setup. Go download it, start the setup, point it towards the woff executable file and make sure its set to dx9. Then once that's all done I just jumped in a QC mission and let it load into the mission. The default key to open it up to mess with stuff is the home key. Don't... Don't try to open it too early tho. I tried opening it while it was still loading in the first time and it really didn't seem to like that. I ended up having to do a system restart to get woff to close properly. Oh, and remember to download all the shaders when it asks. Kinda the whole point, eh?

It's got a ton of different shader options, including one that I think you can use to set up psuedo vr? I'm not sure how it works, but it does the mirrored screen jazz with a slight offset. If we have anyone with a vr headset maybe they could test that out?

In other news, my B.E.12 pilot in 1916 found some time traveling Whippets. Curious slug beasts, playing in the dirt as they are.

Ah fair enough makes more sense to me now - as you say like Borderlands type look.

You'd hardly believe there's a war on......except for the fact I'm in a heavily armed fighter aircraft, over an airfield bristling with A.A. guns duckhunter

Got to be more careful next time..almost lost my six week old pilot.
Got the EA, but lost a wing turning.
Made a tough landing, in a snow storm, in no-mans land.
Fortunately was just inside enemy lines, held her up long enough to cross the front.
I was standing on the right rudder pedal.
