Well,
After years of playing RB3D (marvelous game, patched up to the hilt) and more recently Rise of Flight (could be a marvelous game if only they added more aircraft....it gets boring shooting down FE2b's and DFW's all day long)...I've finally got myself WOFF......and quite frankly....WHOOOSH.....I'm totally hooked...I've joystick cramps....bleared vision ....and the cat is standing by the door with it's bag packed already.
Now........who to fly for?.....and from what date? Hmm....any ideas?

So, we take off in ten minutes, we're in the air for twenty minutes, which means we should be dead by twenty five to ten.

First off welcome Simes, you've purchased arguably THE greatest ww1 air combat sim ever made. Welcome to the meat grinder mate. 1st thing I always ask Are you patched upto the latest patch? And have you downloaded the free skin pack from the main store page? Also Matt Milnes music is free to download from there aswell. (WOFFS music is phenomenal) I personally love the Albs so I like flying in Jasta 2 in 1916 with aces such as Manfed Von Ricthofen,Erwin Bohme etc. You can fly alongside all the Aces of the Great War,you can also have multiple careers going. Say ..1 German,1 British French and American. When your comfortable enough I recommend highly having a nosy at the mods page, they make this great sim even better.

Nice! Welcome Simes! My 2c: start earlier in the war to give you a little time to acclimatize. The AI can be pretty lethal but there's less of 'em around in say spring of 16. That's where I usually start. For the Allies you could try the Nieuport 10 or 11. For the Entente I'd skip the Eindeckers (beastly hard to fly) and try the Halberstadt or the Alb D1
Enjoy!!

Hi Adger, thanks for the welcome and the info.
I fully intend to have a look at the various mods over the next few days. I've already downloaded the skins and music available. The music was something I frequently updated on both RB3D and ROF and I regularly found new stuff for both as I found it added to the atmosphere.
I've started a full campaign from early 1915 with the Germans..... including the training.....and a campaign with the RFC without the training so I can get a few hours free flying practice ;-D
So, we take off in ten minutes, we're in the air for twenty minutes, which means we should be dead by twenty five to ten.

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the welcome, from my first few sorties I can see the AI is far more in-depth than other games already....and yes... attacking a Cauldron in an EI was not a good experience for me....but a learning one for sure.

Welcome to our addiction! Try flying for the Royal Naval Air Service in later 1916. You get the Pup, Tripe, Camel, and Bentley Camel, all good machines. After April 1918, you can transfer to any RAF squadron.

Eindeckers are flown with rudder mainly as the warp wings were not that good compared to actual ailerons.Try to fly it with rudder inputs to turn and aileron to fine tune. Its actually fun once it clicks!

When starting I used to do flights of the circuit and practice landings etc. Make sure whilst practicing that you tick "pilot never dies" I've lost more than one pilot whilst practicing manoeuvres I highly recommend JJJ,S Java Apps, the airfields mod is a must. Scouts news mod,Buckeyes clouds nibbios map mod I also enjoy. If required I can PM you my workshop settings,Nvidia settings (if you have a Nvidia card) and mods I use..just let me know pal.

I can't give any real advice because I'm too new still, as well as too weird. After learning some of the ropes after purchasing last June, when the end of July came I decided to track the 104th anniversary. I started six separate pilots, 1 each from the three major combatants in a future two-seater squadron and 1 each in a future fighter squadron. I've fallen a little behind that goal, but I'm still trying. All my missions are two-seaters right now. One Morane parasol pilot tried to shoot down a German with no luck. I've only seen a couple enemy aircraft and that single encounter was my only combat in nine months.
Some people are born stupid. I've had to work hard my whole life to get this way. I'm proud of the job I've done

Thanks again Adger, I do have an Nvidia card as it happens, so I might just do that.
Thanks to everyone for their input, the point is obviously, there are SO many options on who to fly with and when that the possibilities are virtually endless....hence why the game is so good.
I've settled on an RFC campaign flying the DH2 in April 1916 with 29 Squadron. It's going well at the moment......well I'm still alive anyway 8-S

HD, actually I fell off the wagon and landed on my head - temporary amnesia according to the doctor. I'm fine now though, so I'll remember next time to --- wait --- what was I saying? .

Who am I? Am Nesia. Don’t you recognize me? Welcome to the forum Simes. Pay no attention to Lou, he seems to be under the wagon. Or is that the weather? I’m not sure anymore. Do you have pesos?
