hi!

I am trying to edit weapons.ibx but runned ito checkum code on end of it. I can't edit.

Have you been successfull on this?

I don't like the idea of having only 2 SAMs fired at me... make life very easy... wink and not historically acurate.

After I read Dan Hampton's "Viper" and "Hunter Killers".....

thanks!

Hi guys.

Dudes, this is not working for me.

I have windows 10 on my laptop and i've being able to install almost any incomptaible old game in existence.....

Except for USAF frown which i love so much i want to play.

The patch doesnt work on my windows 10 machine.

The exe files just hang, not going anywhere, executing nothing.

I was able to install it and to play it in a crappy computer i have in my office with windows 8. in my win 10 machine, nothing, it seems im the only one :P i blame the constant windows updates, i guess. .

But i really want to play it in my PC.

If any of you could give me any help.

Please, i'd be so grateful.

I know a new fix is on the way, and i thank Tcklbrry for his work,

Thanks in advance:

Hey Tcklbrry,

If you are still around could you answer these quesitons:

1) What is the difference between early and later patches:

My observations:

JUTPHQM->JUTPWSS->JUBT

From what I see, the RESOURCE folder in the first one is much larger than the other 2
WSS adds WideScreen resolutions that the first one doesnt?
Third one looks like the same Resource folder as the 2nd but adds the DG Voodoo files.

With dGVoodoo, the higher widescreen Resolutions have only 16 bit depth, while the JUTPWSS patch allowed widescreen x 32 bit depth

2) I had a working install with sequential addtions of JUTPHQM->JUTPWSS->JUBT to the Fresh install + 1.02f patch. Seemed to work fine, but all of a sudden my SOUND disappeared. In Preferences, the MASTER VOLUME slider was all the way to the left, but whenever I move it up, it immediately reverts back and there is no sound. Coincidence?

3) So far the BEST working install I have is with the first 2 patches applied, but I think probably I could have achieved the same result by JUST adding the JUTPWSS to the 1.02F install. IS this correct? Is there any harm to stacking up the patches as I have done?

Thanks for getting the old classics running on modern systems and keeping them up to date.

salute

Every time I click on the download link for the update in post 4412682 I get the page not found. You have a better link. It seems I get this on just about all of them. I have the original CD's I got back in 2000 and they are in great condition. I just want to play USAF again. I had a load of fun with it before I started Flight Sim 2000, 2002, 2004 and FSX. Been doing that since then and now P3Dv4.3. I also have all the Freespace CD's. Those I did get to work on my 8.1 laptop not sure about win 10 though. Just would like a good link to download the working updates for win 10. Thanks John

What are the odds that the game I'm longing for at least a decade would pop up at a "random" web search.
And what are the further odds that only a day before Tcklbrry posted about an update that might finally make my childhood dream playable again?!

I tried an old version of the patch I got from ModDB, and I could at least see something at 800x600 on Win10 x64...

Please, for the sake of posterity, I encourage you to keep at it, I'd be forever in your debt, Tcklbrry!

Love

Hi,
you can try test version of the patch:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MFM_q2eYGBynAkzJOhK_wL3yIF54G7n7/view?usp=sharing

1. Copy a content of the folders to USAF root folder (mod is otional)
2, Execute "wine.reg" and confirm registry changes
3. Execute "USAFConfig.exe"
4. Start USAF.exe

I have tested the patch on nvidia gpu. I didn't test the patch on amd gpu.
AMD users maybe can remove "OffscreenRenderingMode", "strict_shader_math" records from "wine.reg" or registry. Be free to experiment with that.

You can use dgVoodoo wrapper as an alternative. It is a much faster but there is missing fullscreen support and some textures are flickering, mainly smoke textures.

Also master volume setting is fixed in this patch.

Keep flying,
Tcklbrry
