Yep that was the trick, it is working now, using Woff fixed, normally I could not read that because the last 50% of the webpage was white. I will delete my hars topic, sorry I was very frustrated while I could not read the Woff forum nor could see the solution for this problem. Excellent! Thanks for the report back on what worked. Maybe that will solve the problem for Deacon211 also.

Let me give it a try....I didn't even know there were other styles. The default had just always worked before.

Changing the style does seem to help and make the forum useable again.
But it still doesn't look quite like it used to. It's missing some of the original background graphics.

You may know this already, but in case somebody doesn't. If you wanted those to show up in the body of the post... This is the first image: Insert and interesting story, or whatever... This is the second image: ---------------------- Basically... Right click on the Attached File image (You should be able to do that using the Preview Reply mode) and "Copy Link Location" to put it in your Windows Clipboard, then use the Full Editor's Insert Image Link, paste the Clipboard's link location into that. Repeat as necessary for each image, placing them within the text where you want to them to appear. There may be an easier way that I haven't noticed yet. If somebody knows one, they are encouraged to share their knowledge.

The test post I put up was done because it was the only way I could copy the image location and port it over to a PM I was sending to someone. As you are probably aware, the PM process does not allow you to attach images because the interface is not there yet. Hopefully you folks are working on resolving that issue. Best Regards

I tried some of the other layouts. I guess it works. I think the issue I was primarily having was with the pre-update images spilling over into the new layout. The new, sadly small, images fit better.
So, do I understand that it is possible to directly upload pics to SimHQ again, just with some jiggery pokery?
Cyberkut, I hope this isn't taken the wrong way. But, given the centrality of screenshot uploading to the forums in general, I'm uncertain why the method wasn't identified as a big detractor from the upgrade choice.
Or was it, pull the handle or burn to death?

I don't know what the decision process was, as the decision was RacerGT's alone to make. I would guess that it was probably some combination of gaining the proper support for mobile devices (which are a growing segment of how the forums are accessed) and staying up-to-date in general as a means to better ensure security from hacking, etc. If I were in RacerGT's shoes, those considerations would have weighed heavily on my mind. UBB threads serves many communities, so I'm inclined to think that the new version's framework is a product of hard won lessons from various forum operators. Bringing in support for mobile devices, with their smaller screens had to have involved making some compromises, or at least some other ways to deal with how some things are displayed. The online world has evolved in another way, too. Not all that long ago, people were limited more by connection speed (ie. Rate of throughput), whereas now, some people are running up against data caps instead. Either of those limits can put image size at a premium for some people. EDIT: Almost missed the image upload question... Yes, you can upload images. When you are in the Full Editor, look down to the lower left. Click on the "Attachment Manager". Images uploaded through that will show up as thumbnails along the bottom of the post. If you want them to display as larger images in the body of the post's text, then refer to http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4343158/re-forum-layout-wierd#Post4343158.

I was asking about thread posting. I didn't realize that the thread was PM specific. Thanks for the reply CyBerKut. I guess, having never had a problem with the forums on either of my iDevices, I didn't realize this was a problem. I'll need to look at that thread and see what I can make of it. The screenshot and art threads here have sort of fallen off, which is unfortunate since there was some beautiful work being done there. :-)

I know, since the upgrade the entire forum has slowed way down.

Yes, it's very slow now.
Sorry, but I still can't consider this change to be an upgrade over the old one in any sense of the word.

Folks, if you're seeing a slowdown of some sort, I strongly recommend you post about it over in the Site Feedback & Suggestions section, where RacerGT is more likely to see it. Describe/define it as best as you can.

But this entry certainly was. Feel free to discuss all other issues here

CyBerKut, when we use the term "slow down" we aren't talking about response time, we are talking about visitors. Before the upgrade this forum was a busy, bustling place. Everyday we would have multiple threads going, but since the upgrade the traffic has almost completely ceased. Could be the time of year, but my fear is that the members really don't like the upgrade and are not coming back. Anyway, that's what we mean when we say 'slow'.

I agree i dont know whats going on but..the forum has been quieter since the change. I dont think anybodys posted in the screenshot thread for a fortnight
