I see Sandbagger, thanks for explaining.

How far we've come. I remember painting a/c for RB, literally pixel by pixel in some spots, and painting in the shadows of the upper wings, tailfeathers and lower fuselage on the fuselage. Very static. And now we have the magic of Ankor.

Now there is a old school skinner speaking from experience salute
We added 'occlusion' to areas close to structural joints, such as wings to fuselage, tailplane/fin to fuselage etc. This was done by adding a darker 'shadow' at the join areas. Again something now redundant with the advent of the shaders.

Remember? The stripe on my upper wing, on the diagonal, pixel by pixel, and you could not use black for shadows as it was invisible. You had to go with the darkest gray you could get to work. Doing my plane took hours. I think I still have the files stashed away in my old xp machine somewhere.

I remember, much later, modding in "Full Canvas Jacket", which really made the game look great (and skinning that much harder). I think that's the only reason that I don't have the Steam Version loaded up (well, that and this game). Can't mod it into their version.

.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I did my first custom livery in OFF after years of skinning planes in Red Baron.

Tried some of the options in Gimp. The effects are pretty fun to play with.

I had posted these on Deacon211's "art

" page, so I thought I'd put them here also, straight up--no chaser, 'er' no fiddling. I do like to work them up, trying to get an 'old' look, but sometimes just a regular screenie is just as good. SW

How is the graphics, lights, reflections, terrains, etc, compared to WoFF ?
Is it worth to buy UE ?

I find them better and faster. I understand how you feel, if you already own WOFF3. I too took a long time (for this community) before getting UE. Now I think its worth it, plus only UE will be updated etc.

Nice capture of that sunken vessel Adger That beautiful sparkling water drew my eyes to it.
