Just out of curiosity, I tried a few filters to make this one look more like an oil painting. I apologize for the size, but the texture gets lost if you shrink it too much.

Very cool! It's really the color palette and the shaders that give you those great Stokes-like tones.
The first one particularly has that nice brush work feel. I use Photoscape, but the effect is too overdone at any but the lowest setting. I like how the rain is more muted in this second series as well.
Nice work Fullofit!

Deacon211, there is a bunch of things happening there. All done with filters. That soft brush filter is aptly called "oilify". It removes a lot of detail, but gives you the softness in return. I suppose the canvas texture also makes it look like a real painting, although typically you don't see it on real paintings unless you come really close.

I'm starting to like this effect.

Dude, that seriously looks like someone painted it.
Some of these I'd be willing to print on canvas and hang.

It's amazing what you can do with computers these days. You can fly in the first air war and then make a painting out of it without too much effort.

Fullofit, here are a couple using the cartoon filter. I kind of like the effect.

Banjoman, I've played with the cartoon filter as well. It's an art to find the right amount of black to be used in the process, otherwise it starts to look like an engraving. It's funny the program can't find the horizon, that seems to be missing in the second shot. Maybe in WOTR they'll figure out how to increase the distance and reduce that fog.

Yeah, I didn't make any adjustments, just a straight up conversion. I think I'll start using those filters on my screenshots, though probably not the cartoon filter.

Some of these I'd be willing to print on canvas and hang. Right? They are going to look good on my wall. Stealing your's also, Fullofit.

Blackard, no problem. That's why they're here. I'm glad you like 'em. If you have a favorite screenshot you'd like to have it converted, just post it here and I'll try to "oilify" it. Warning: below image has been modified from it's original WOFFiness. (Legal mumbo-jumbo for Pol.)

Hellshade, I'll tell my computer you've said so. I'm no artist and I couldn't paint a straight line. Computers make everything easy.

I think I already posted it in this thread, but for the life of me can't find which page it's on. Could you mess about with this one? If that was a general offer, that is, not one specifically for Blackard.

Sure Mortuus. I'll see what I can do. It'll have to be tomorrow after work.

Sorry Fullofit, but I had to have a go at it myself. Mortuus, what do you think?
