I bought my first clan 'mech.

Now, should I start purchasing omnipods to make it what I want it to be, or should I work with its limitations until I buy another chassis, giving me more omnipods at that time?

I just wait until I buy the other chassis and shift the omnipods around between chassis, that's one of the coolest thing about the Clan mechs, being able to combine the various omnipod hardpoints to make frankenstein builds thumbsup

To master the chassis you will have to buy 2 more anyway. So I agree with Kludger. I was lucky and jumped on the stormcrow sale. Bargain basement stuff.

Yah Feet, I know that. It s just that the Adder Prime variant doesn't have a whole lot of build variety.

I would love to add a ballistic arm and missile torsos. Yes they, plus the weapons, are expensive, but so are the new chassis that I have to buy.

I think I just talked myself in a circle.

Waiting for the Oxide to go on sale, and wil continue to run my heroes for CB.

You still have to own some extra omnipods in order to be able to swap them around. If your primes are in use, for example, you can't take one to use on another mech leaving that other one unusable. Just like you can't use an engine on an IS mech that's in use elsewhere. It's even more restrictive than that, actually, since you can't strip a clan mech of omnipods...you can't "not" have an omnipod in each location on the mech. You just need to have a few extras.
That's just part of the clan mech experience--buying overpriced ominipods. Just be SURE you need it. LOL

So basically I will have to have at least one extra omnipod for swap-ability?

That sounds alright. That way I can play my Prime the way I want to to gain CB and xp, saving for my next chassis.

I can live with that.

Don't forget they're pink, too. Although Raw is pretty manly, he can pull off pink.

He should just paint one of his TBRs pink. Just for me biggrin

Hehe I just play one chassis at a time and I'm cheap, so I just move the omnipods around... of course I only have one of each module type too and just move it around, your mileage may vary if you have a big c-bill account :P

Back to the clan mech, it is definitely different (in a good way) not worrying about ES, FF, DHS, engine size, etc, and just planning a weapon layout.

Some people might call it easy mode though. I don't know what to say about that. You sill have to do well in the actual fighting.

The ADD-PRIME runs very hot with 2 C-ERPPC. I removed one of them and replaced it with a C-MPL and threw in extra DHS. It runs a lot cooler even though it has a lower alpha.

Do you mean that when you run your prime but swap on another mechs omnipod that it puts the prime's omnipod on that other mech automatically, stripping off the other mechs loadout on that torso/arm? Maybe I missed something?
Otherwise, you've still got to buy the extra omnipods to begin with to customize a clan mech with other hardpoints.

Kludger finds that much rooting around under his couch cushions looking for doughnut money. Bro is loaded, true story.

I buy all 3 chassis, then I strip the omnipods from the ones I'm not using if I need them for the one I am using, as long as you only need the omnipod on one mech at a time, you can move that single one around like the modules.

I broke my piggy bank to buy 3 Summoners and to outfit them with decent builds, then I spent another 18M for 3 Stormcrows, so I was down to 22M and am having to build back up from there for the TimberWolf becoming c-bill next month.

Yeah, but you have to buy the extra omnipoints first is my point, before you can move them. You can't buy 3 mechs and strip the omnipoints they come with so they have none. You can only change omnipoints (eg: C, D, Prime), you can't leave a mech without one in any location. The first time you change your RT, LT, RL, LL, RA, LA, head, you're buying.

Yes, you can strip the pods off and save it like that. You'll get warnings, and wont be able to launch with that chassis, but you can save it completely stripped.
