How do you see what a 'mech has available before you buy it?
Is Smurfy a necessity fight now? I feel that the UI isn't allowing me to see what hardpoints a prospective purchase will allow me.
I haven't ruled out pilot error

Gotta check Smurfy. I'm not sure it's 100% correct as far as having all the right stats, or it wasn't a while back last I used it, but you can still see the stock form of any mech.
