Would look pretty awesome if DCS got their paws on something like this, a battleMech done to DCS standards, heh, heh.
Mick. smile

I'm hanging for a DCS type MW sim. So much so that I've even entertained the idea of learning 3d modelling and lua scripting.

Alas, if I only had the time to dedicate to it. Maybe if I win lotto. The first mech I'd do in DCS World would be the Marauder.

As long as you follow that one with the rifleman, I'm in. BUT, you have to follow the books. Pinpoint accuracy is not possible, due to electronics issues...etc. I can see it now, losing individual systems like limbs fussed, loaders jammed, and gyros failing.

Haven't read much to know, what's the deal with that? Is it like Dune where computers are outlawed from an AI rebellion or something? I assume there's a tech limitation for a reason. Obviously manufacturing is going strong. LOL

It deals with humanities destruction of its societies and the results of hundreds of years of constant warfare. Basically man has lost the tech to build mechs and their components and over 300 years that equipment has decayed.

If you want a DCS type of MechWarrior game, then I suppose the closest you'll get is Battletech 4.x on one of those Virtual World Tesla pods. You have to manage generators and coolant loops using the MFDs, something you never have to worry about even in the PC MechWarrior titles!

Affording such a setup-and maintaining it-is another story, though...

Other than that, I'm not really sure what to recommend you. Most mech "sims" don't really play all that alike in my experience, as they all have their own nuances. Just try comparing the PC MechWarrior titles, Heavy Gear 2, and Steel Battalion (the original Xbox titles with the huge controller) in terms of gameplay, and you'll find some very noticeable differences in their renditions of mech combat.

And for the most part, subsystem management (like a DCS-grade combat flight sim) isn't really part of the picture. Loadout customization, on the other hand...
