It's the worst of the franchise. I actually regret watching it.

They did get sillier and dumber with each sequel. Also the action set pieces in IV, while some of them were kinda neat, most of them went on way too long.

Watched The Equalizer 3 the other day. What’s there to say, other than that Denzel surely is one of the best actors of his generation. He is so believable in anything he plays. The Equalizer movies are one of the few franchises where the third movie is as good as, if not better, than the first.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

They did one on his presidency, it was so short though they played it during a commercial break. You may have missed it.

Watching Oppenheimer for 3 days now.

It's taking me longer because I keep stopping to GOOGLE and WIKI names of the characters and read up on all the science stuff.

I have GOOGLE and WIKI almost every character with a first and last name on this list https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15398776/fullcredits/

Watching it a 2nd time at home with subtitles at my own pace is better than watching it in cinema and I can understand many of the events and all the dialogue

Unfortunately Willa isn't back for Reacher season 2. Instead we will have two of the, nowadays, obligatory bad a$$ spec op females rolleyes

But at least it has Robert Patrick.

After rewatching Oppenheimer, I decided to watch the other half of Barbieheimer/Barbenheimer .

18 minutes in: they are all Barbie and Ken. Don't matter they are blonde, brunette, redhead, skinny, fat, white, black, asian, pregnant, in wheelchair.

Every doll in Barbieland is a Ken and a Barbie. All the Barbie are smart and career including a black Barbie President in the Pink House and all the Ken are dumb and a few even feminine or gay.

I will watch some more before I pass judgement but how does this makes $1.4 billion?

What is the message here? "Women Smart! Men Dumb!" ???

Also how DaFAQ the budget is $100 million?!?

I'm sure a big chunk of that went to pay the salaries for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Finished Barbie. If there is a sequel, I won't be watching it.

Greta Gerwig , writer-producer-director of Barbie is an angry bitter woman.

That's all this Barbie movie is: an angry bitter woman movie.

The movie would had worked better if the story kept Barbie in Barbieland where she and all the Barbies and Kens are perfect and they don't discover how the real world is.

This entire speech is in the movie.

Quote
I’m not good enough for anything.

It is literally impossible to be a woman.

You are so beautiful and so smart, and it kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.

Like we have to always be extraordinary.

But somehow, we’re always doing it wrong.

You have to be thin but not too thin, and you can never say you want to be thin.

You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin.

You have to have money, but you can’t ask for money because that’s crass.

You have to be a boss but you can’t be mean.

You have to lead, but you can’t squash other people’s ideas.

You’re supposed to love being a mother, but don’t talk about your kids all the #%&*$# time.

You have to be a career woman but also always be looking out for other people.

You have to answer for men’s bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you’re accused of complaining.

You’re supposed to stay pretty for men but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you’re supposed to be a part of the sisterhood but always stand out.

And always be grateful.

But never forget that the system is rigged, so find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful.

You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line.

It’s too hard, it’s too contradictory, and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you.

And it turns out, in fact, that not only are you doing everything wrong but also everything is your fault.

You have to find a way to reject men’s advances without damaging their egos.

Because if you say yes to them, you’re a tramp, but if you say no to them, you’re a prude.

I’m just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us.

And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing a woman… then I don’t even know.

I just GOOGLE and found that Margot Robbie (who is also listed as producer of it) and Greta Gerwig will each get over $50-100 million from this movie plus their $12.5 million salary each.

That's nothing to be angry and bitter about. If anything, they should be complaining that's injustice and disparity in salary because billions of their sisters in this world do not earn that kind of money.

Five Nights At Freddy's https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4589218/

The movie is nothing like the trailer

It made $257 million against a a $20 budget, that means it's good enough for a sequel, right?

So not only did "The Marvels" have a very poor opening weekend last week but it also dropped 78% during its second weekend. That is a disastrous drop for any movie but even more so for a Disney-financed movie.

33 Marvels movies in 15 years with some years with 2 movies per year, too much of a good thing or too much of a bad thing

There are 11 more coming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_films

I can tell you I've not even watch 10 of those 33 movies

33 is a lot over 15 years but the failure of "The Marvels" was NOT due to audience fatigue with comic book movies in general but instead the audience was simply not interested in the premise behind "The Marvels". If there was a real audience fatigue with comic book movies then Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Black Panther 2 and Across the Spider-Verse should have all flopped. They did not and all three were big box office successes.

Having a high quantity / pace of production is not inherently bad. The Marvel comic book universe has plenty of material to draw upon. Problems arise when you don't stick with talented writers, etc. that remain true to the heroic vision. Bringing in the woke preachiness, especially at volume, was bound to cause problems. Add in having some of the actors / actresses running their mouths off (interviews / social media) with the woke stuff, and more people know ahead of time to just avoid the movie... or at least wait until it's streaming to save time & money.

I don't want to push this into PWEC. Suffice to say, that I find it ironic that many people in the story telling business apparently do not have sufficient faith in the power of their story telling to get desired points across. Great books, plays and movies get their points across without the authors, etc. explicitly having to tell everyone what they should take away from it.

Deliver an entertaining story and you can slide some subtle points in there to no ill effect. People who disagree with whatever can overlook it when they aren't being beat over the head with it amongst a great story.

Yeah, it's more of a bad movie fatigue than anything.
As for the Marvlels, I think it's averaging something like $300 per theater. That's bad, particularly with prices these days.

Watching The Founder about Ray Kroc stealing and cheating the McDonald's brothers out of their McDonald's creation https://www.amazon.com/Founder-Michael-Keaton/dp/B01MY7FSMF

WIKI

The brothers agree to a $2.7 million lump sum payment, ownership of their original restaurant in San Bernardino and a 1% annual royalty but when the time comes to finalize the agreement, Kroc refuses to include the royalty in the settlement and instead offers it as a handshake deal.

The McDonald brothers were never paid their royalties, which would eventually have been about $100 million a year

I am sure them McDonald's burgers in 1954 tasted a whole lot better than they do now.

I have no doubt about that. When you mass produce millions of burgers on a daily basis the quality will invariably decline. It's a good thing the consumer has plenty of alternatives to McDonalds when it comes to burgers.
